I own a "Charter Arms Undercover " chambered in .32 long. I wish it was chambered for 32 H&R Magnum. Does anyone know if it is possible to have the cylinder drilled to accept the 32 mag ? Will it hold up under the additional chamber pressure of the mag round ?
Maybe I could just replace the cylinder with an original 32 mag cylinder??

Any Suggestions ?

Never a good idea to chamber a gun for a cartridge of higher pressure than it was designed for .

Charter Arms made this gun both in 32 long & 32 mag. Both guns are exactly the same.Same size frame and cylinder.Don't think it would be unsafe, maybe it would be better to just replace the cylinder with an original mag cylinder. Only bad thing...this gun is no longer made.

Donutman,

You can rent a 32 H&R reamer from 4D rentals. www.4d-products.com is their url. It cost $25 for either three or four days. I converted a couple of my S&W Hand Ejectors to 32 H&R to ease reloading chores. I usually practice with a 98gn lead bullet and 2.5 grains of clays. This won't hurt a gun chambered for the 32 long either.

One of my carry guns is a S&W 332 and my wife has a Model 16. It simplifies reloading if all my .32 revolvers use the same brass and load.

I used Brownells Do Drill fluid and a standard tap wrench to do mine. Worked great.

Thanks for the info JOHN FROM MD, I'm not much on do it yourself gunsmithing, some stuff I can do myself, but I don't know about doing this to my gun.I would like to just send it to someone more qualified.I wonder if I send my gun back to Charter Arms,if they could do it for me ?

Thanks for the information, I'll keep it in mind.

Hi John from MD,

Thanks for the suggestion for rechambering a Charter Arms Undercover from .32 Long to .32 H&R Magnum. Great idea! I tried the url for 4D Products but it didn't work.( www.4d-products.com ). Is there another site I can try?

Too bad there's no way to convert a Charter Arms Pit Bull 9mm Federal to 9mm Luger but that would take a lot more than reaming out chambers. Have you ever thought about that?
