Thanks Articap, yeah, it could be I'm thinking of 777 too....I have seen one of the subs get wet and become a slimy mush.
The fact that the subs use KCLO4 ( potassium perchlorate ) is reason enough to stay away. I'll take sulfur smoke over chorine compounds any day :barf: That's probably a big factor if it's corrosiveness too. I'll leave the KCLO4 for the fireworks and rocket industry and I'll use BP where it belongs, in BP guns.
I do tend to go through phases in reloading my 45lc guns, either BP or Unique...lately I'm into Unique since I can shoot all day without too much mess.

Articap; "Pyrodex is not a fructose or sugar based powder.
You must be confusing Pyrodex with American Pioneer Powder and Goex Clear Shot powder since the modern fructose/ascorbic acid based powders came after Pyrodex was developed.
Ever notice when cleaning it that Pyrodex residue shares the same rotten egg sulpher smell that black powder also produces? "

I would only use Pyro in my brother in law's guns as it's much more corrosive than the real stuff. 777 is the way to go imho.
