Rear bags for bench

Looking for advice on a better rear bag for bench shooting. I am currently using a Caldwell bunny ears and believing there is something better out there. Reason being, the league I shoot in requires shooting to take place from a front bipod and soft rear bag. I feel I am getting too much elevation movement from my bag even when squeezing the bag to position.

Define soft?

I bought a set of custom bags from them earlier this year. Top notch outfit, very helpful and shipping was prompt even with a custom order.
Soft, does not hold form unless pressure is kept applied. Where I work, were are a retailer for the Protektor.

A couple of ways to help this.

One is to lower the bipod by rotating the legs if it will (Atlas etc), which then calls for less height in the rear and the ability to hopefully get the bag tighter under the stock.

Two is simply a bigger bag such as a Schmedium Game Changer instead of a Pint Size. Or a different brad that simply is higher. One thing about the game changers is how versatile on the height they can do by turning it this way or that.

You want the stock shoved down in the bag firmly where you don't have a lot of free play when at the right height.

Soft, does not hold form unless pressure is kept applied.
Which rules out bags like the Protektor the way I interpret that.

??

Yes indeed. I use the rear bag to make and hold elevation changes. The pod is a Harris S-BRM. I slide the bag along the stock and then squeeze the bag to make elevation adjustments. By squeezing the "ears" it doesn't hold very well and I also do not have much success in trying to squeeze the bag base to raise the butt.

So you can use that Protektor bag and it's considered "soft"?

They weren't designed to be used that way, I'm willing to bet you could do better with a truly soft bag you can conform to the need.

OK, Don't know why the picture didn't show up in the original post but did here in my reply.
Yes, something like the soft Game Changer. Also just watched a video on a soft bag. Looks like I could make one myself.

This may sound crazy but for bench use, go to fabric store. Buy a yard of spandex. Sew it into a bag two layers thick and fill with play sand (the heavy stuff). Softball sized.

This rascal is about 50 years old. Still works.

For shooting off of a bench and front rest, I like the leather bunny ear bags, but for a soft bag using a bipod, it's Game Changer for me. I like the Schmedium bag. You can fill it as much as you care too and make it as pliable or hard as you need it to be.

My F class bag is an Edgewood Gator

I’d say 90% of the guns I see on the line use them
Now that I have a better idea of what I need and what our league call for.
We are to use a bipod and all elevation and windage adjustments are to be made by manipulating the bag, not a front rest. Which is why the need for a bag I can squeeze yet holds a shape.

@Varminterror turned me on to these guys. I’ve been playing around with it and like it for NRA AR tactical, where the rules say you can’t use an eared bag

Yes he sent me a link also.

Totally agree! I bought lesser quality bags and they are useless. I know here my father's voice (RIP Dad) saying; ' Son, cheap stuff ain't good and good stuff ain't cheap." What are father's always do right? 🙂

Looking at these

Way less stable than a Protektor or Edgewood bag or Airfoil bag. Guys aren’t using these at top level bench/belly matches for good reason.

These are convenient and inexpensive - THAT is their advantage. But rear squeeze cubes (for whatever reason we call them this) like this are the least stable rear bag option.
