I recently purchased a Sig P220 and on the box it says 220C-45-AM and SIGARMS, 220-45,B, CONT.

Now, I know what the 45 stands for, but can someone tell me what the C, AM, B, CONT stand for? This is on a white tag on the box.

Thanks! :)

I had a chance to play with a Sig a few months back... I think it was a P226 in 9mm. Liked it MUCH more than the Berettas and Glocks I've fired before.

My P228..

continues to be my favorite...but I expect it to be replaced by the P245 I talked Ms. Migoi into getting me for Christmas.

I just bought one too...still in the mail though. I had been drooling over 1911's for some time but can't get over the manual safety thing for CCW since I'm used to decockers.

I told my friend to just get me boxes of 45 for Christmas.:D

I believe cslinger to be correct. European variants have/had a heel clip mag release. When buying magazines in the future for your pistol. check for the cutout on the side for the North American style mag drop, although most are interchangeable these days, to the best of my knowledge, which is admittedly flawed from time to time.

Congratulations on a wise purchase. It's a fine handgun.

Rabbit.

can you tell us a lil' more about that SIG of yours
Black - well, I don't know the gun's early history but it has the usual ''Sigarms inc, Exeter NH'' on left side of slide and on right side ''Made in Germany". My 226 ST has ''Frame made in Germany" and it's new early this year.

So that's about all I can tell. Bought this one used from Gary Brommeland the holster guy. G2867xx is the SN but I don't know where to check SN's for info. I suspect you may be right that it's an earlier one.

Congratulations on your P220. She will serve you well.

For those asking about markings, some questions can be answered here:

If you want to know when it was manufactured, for example, there are proof marks on the underside of the frame at the front which the above link will translate for you.

sig 220

I have to concur. I love mine and I am sure you will feel the same about yours. Got the Hogue finger groved grips for mine and the feel is even better!

The Sig 220 is the only other platform that is worth messing with for the 45ACP round, other than the 1911.

My 220 has been the most reliable pistol I have ever owned and the only d/a auto I will ever own (everything else is 1911s and Hi-Powers).

You'll love the 220!
