Recoat a steel cleaning rod?

I scraped my Pro Shot coated steel cleaning rod on a flash suppressor/muzzle device. The coating is scraped off one side of the rod for the first 1.5". It's a 22 to 6.5 rod. I use it in both 22 and 6.5 but will probably get a shorter carbon rod for the 22 (what I scraped it on). So if I use this Pro Shot rod in 6.5, what can I recoat it with? Plasti-dip? epoxy paint? high-build primer and paint? Any other ideas?

I wouldn't worry about it, the more you use it the more of the coating will get scrapped off of it. Just put some oil on it so it doesn't get rusty.

What ever you do, make sure what you coat it with isn't something that will attract and hold dirt and grit. That will be more harmful to your bore than bare steel.

I'd leave it be.
