Recommend a double mag pouch

It does...believe me on this one, I've proved it, to my own dismay, during an IDPA match

The belt pouch is attached to your belt by your belt passing through loop/slots in the mounting plate on the rear of the pouch. With a paddle mounting, the paddle is attached to the pouch and it slipped behind you belt/waistband. One the Fobus, there are ledges which slip under the belt to secure it. .

However, if you are skinny, you can bend inward while pulling up on a magazine and the pouch can slip off your belt...leaving you with a magazine in your hand still wearing it's pouch. The Fobus paddle is actually better (more stable) than skinnier belt clips, but the belt attachment is more secure

Fobus: $13.50 + $3.50 shipping here:

You're not likely going to find a much better out-the-door price than $17.00 regardless of what you pay for individual item or shipping. A delivered item that's $17.00 total is dirt cheap compared to some of the leather stuff.

There's a reason why the stuff on eBay is so cheaply priced: no demand for it, junk, poor quality and etc. Sometimes you have to pay a mite more to get what works for you.

Just jot a Blackhawk couple weeks ago, quality is topnotch.35 bucks.Secures with belt and wont move during a stage reload.

Should you decide on leather, I tried a number of 'em (not for competition), one from a 'spensive holster maker and prefer the Desantis Double Mag Pouches.

The Desantis is more compact-kinda shrink wrapped-with retention adjustment screws so you can get the same tension on both mags. Many of the others I tried (and returned) used only 1 piece of leather wrapped (you could see where they skived the leather in an effort to cut down on the thickness where it overlapped), but constructed as such, you could not get the same tension on both magazines. If you adjusted the 'loose' one enough to be confident it wouldn't accidentally come out, the other was so darn tight you had to fight with it!

DeSantis uses 2 pieces of leather, stitched on each end in order to maintain a consistent thickness (and thus, retention), and you also have the tension adjustment screws.

They can usually be found on eBay etc for reasonable prices-think I got mine for $26 delivered?

This is what I would use. They also sell them in singles and triples, and I use the singles.

I can't imagine how difficult it would be to use a nylon pouch with velcro closure for a training class that would most likely require multiple magazine changes. I'd think you'd be fighting that pouch all through the class.

I think open top leather or kydex would be a much better option.

I prefer Blackhawk. It will fit most double stack magazines, Glock or otherwise. It fits the body well, stays put, and rides tight. I have used Uncle Mikes with paddle and belt attachments, Fobus paddle, Blade Tech and Blackhawks other mag pouches. I prefer the basic Blackhawk double mag pouch by far. My only complaints might be that it can be difficult to get on the belt if you are using a 5.11 instructor type belt.
