I've got a Rock River and DPMS Panther 308 rifles that I'm wanting to take some time and work up some handloads for. Has anyone got any pet loads for either of these rifles that have worked good? May deer hunt some with them but mostly punching paper.

Also do you recommend small base dies for these? I have reloaded for years for many calibers including 308 but not for any semi-auto 308 platforms so I'm open for any recommendations.

Edit, if you don't want to share specific loads I understand just general info and bullets that works well with these is fine and I'll find specific data for the powder charge.

Thanks

Not specific to your rifle, but I've found the Speer 150 flat based hot core to be a good bullet in M1 Garand, G3/CETME, and an M1A. The lead tip is rather hard and pointy and it feeds well. Also a dynamite whitetail bullet at .308 speeds and relatively inexpensive. I ran mine over nothing but IMR 4064 per Hornady service rifle data, reduced a couple grains from max .308W for all of the above. I've never found SB dies to be necessary or desireable.

I've also run the Nosler 155 BTHP in the aforementioned G3 and M1 Garand, and it fed well in both.

My current Military ball clone in the M1 Garand (30-06) uses the Hornady 150 FMJBT. I'm able to get significantly better accuracy with this bullet than with military ball or commercial ammo.
