Making a leather sheath is easy, but making it both functional and good looking is actually quite hard and requires skill and practice. As I don't live in the US and do my own leather work I can only give a couple of suggestions on what to look for when shopping for one:
1. Nicely beveled edges.
2. Recessed stitching, that sits uniformly and at an even distance from the edge all the way around.
3. Uniform color.
4. Uniform finish.
5. The joint line between two (three or more) layers should not be visible.
6. Restrain yourself from bright coloring, skulls (in any form), Bible quotes, gaudy tooling, tactical picatinny rails, morale patches and etc.
7. If you ignore Nr. 6, then you can ignore all of the above too - Bad Love Leather should be good enough for you.
Contrary to the popular believe that many people seem to share these days, a real quality handmade product must not show any imperfections - it must look better that the best quality machine made sheath money can buy. Imperfections suggest sloppy work and a maker with questionable skills and not "unique bespoke handmade one-at-a-time" piece.
