Last week I picked up a Vortex Venom red dot sight for my Glock 26. I was planning on having the slide milled, but the LGS also had a Truglo mount that I thought I'd try as I have the option to return it if it doesn't work out. I installed it yesterday and it seems solid enough. I'll be able to shoot the gun tomorrow evening. My question is in regards to long term durability and whether this or other similar mounts shift with use causing the sight to lose it's zero. I have a $140 credit with the LGS who would mill the slide, which will cover the cost of doing so. Is milling the slide a better option?

The tall front sight helps pick up the dot faster . Ameriglo are slightly cheaper, Trijicon’s are more but slightly taller . This would make for a nice carry gun . But that’s just me . I don’t sell guns so I don’t hesitate to modify, mill or drill .

After handling a 17 mos with a holoson and suppressor irons I'm definitely looking to pick up a 26 to mill. Aside from keeping optic and irons closer to the bore, I'm hoping whatever holster modifications that come up are minimized.

I tried the dovetail mount from EGW. They make a great product as it was solid and worked well, but not having co-wittnessed sights was bothering me. I had the slide milled at a LGS and picked it up today. Suppressor heights sights will be here Thursday. In hindsight having the slide milled was definitely the way to go.
