I thought about buying as Israeli surplus Hi Power or an FEG or Tisas clone to use to mount an RMR type sight for my aging eyes. That way my two original HI Powers are unmolested. However, I'm not finding any companies that mill the slide on them. Is that because there's not enough meat on the slide? Any ideas or companies to look to?

Have you asked L&M precision? If they say no then there's probably not enough meat. You could always get a rear sight dovetail mount.

I've often wondered the same thing. I own two FEG HP clones so I, for one, would be interested as to how this works out for you. I don't know anyone who does mill the slide on a HP. As 1KPerDay says the dovetail mount could work. Please let us know how it turns out.

Yeah I'll look into L&M. Wasn't wanting to go with a dovetail mount in order to keep the red dot lower.

It would likely have to take a 1911 type mount that adds width to the slide. I would contact one of the companies that do 1911's.. Perhaps call Nighthawk as they offer the service for 1911's and did do custom BHP's too. Or C&S???

So L&M did one Hi Power for the Delta Point Pro red dot. Only issiiis that there isn't enough room for a rear iron sight. Not sure about having no rear backup sight.
