Burris sells an IR scope and mini red dot combo:
I put one on my son’s AR when he got his. It took me awhile to decide what kind of optic I wanted on my AR and I finally decided to get something similar. At the time I could get dealer pricing on most brands so I bought a VX-R 2-7x33 and a Vortex Razor mini red dot and mounted them on my AR:
I have been thinking for quite a while that there is no need for the Razor since the scope has an IR and I can acquire a target as fast or faster with the VX-R than I can with the Razor. If I remove the Razor the rifle will be less cumbersome and easier to case too. In addition I almost never shoot my AR but I’m going to keep it.
I’ve also been thinking for quite some time about mounting a red dot on my Buck Mark to pot rabbits further away than I can with irons.
So is there a compelling reason to keep the mini red dot on my AR?
