We're going rain or shine for this, folks. The benches are covered and you can pretty much park right at the firing line. Besides, the weather as of now isn't too threatening. I've shot there before in the rain with no problems.

10:00am til' whenever you gotta' go.

Look forward to meeting those of you that I haven't met already.

I'm duck hunting tomorrow so I'll be a little late. I'd like to make a request. I'm trying to decide between a PTR91 or M1A socom. Will anyone have one there so I can look over? Thanks

Hey! I am hoping to be there tomorrow too... Hope you don't mind breaking in a Newbie.

There will NRA certified instructors there to assist any new shooters.

Great shoot today. We had around 30-35 shooters there specifically for the shoot and about another 8-10 folks who just happened to be there to shoot and ended up hanging with us.

The official after action thread is located here.

My shoulder is sore today; I guess I shot a little more than I thought I did.

Who would've thought that the weather would cooperate so nicely?

I'm a little sore getting my sorry behind into the kneeling and sitting positions while doing the Appleseed.

On the subject of the Appleseed, Pacer's instruction was awesome and I learned a lot from him. Any failure to meet the rifleman standard was my own and not that of the teacher, for sure.

As an ancillary lesson, I discovered that I need to get my self in shape in a multitude of areas.

My left arm was simply not up to maintaining a firm base for my rifle and part of my problem with my lousy groups were that I simply couldn't get my muzzle to stay still because my arm was moving so much.

I need to up the attention on my core muscles so that I can maintain my firing positions without my back and sides screaming in protest.

I'm glad I did my stretching exercises yesterday or my back would have crapped out in the first 10 minutes.

I had a great time yesterday. I didn't get a chance to do the appleseed since it was so busy. Actually, I didn't even have a chance to shoot any of my own guns. But there was a lot of different ones out there for people to drool over. Everyone I met was exceedingly nice.
Mike, even lot me put some rounds through his M1A, which is a goal of mine for going. I liked it so much I will be getting a SOCOM. Thanks Mike.

I was REALLY looking forward to the shoot and then I got sick as a dog with the bloody damned flu. Cripes I even had the brand new firesights arrive in time for me to get 'em mounted on the SKS and roughly boresighted in.

Ah well, hope the rest of you had a great time, I'll catch it the next time around!

Sorry I missed you guys (and sorry it took so long to post- I've been avoiding THR for a while- it always makes me have to raise my gun budget and I'm trying to cut back so I can afford to replace my car soon).

Anyway, since I am now a teacher and not working at a psych hospital I have my weekends off again. Of course, as an Orthodox Jew I can't do a Saturday shoot. However, whenever you guys want to do another Sunday shoot I'll be more than happy to go again. Norton or Spot, just make sure to PM me so I'll see my email notification, I don't get on THR much anymore so I can be sure I'll save enough to pay off my car so I can replace it.

No problem Chaim. We're tossing around ideas for another event in the spring.

Are Sundays better for a lot of people? Does it really matter? I can usually do either Sat or Sun with no problems, so maybe before we schedule another one we'll run a poll or something. :) .

Well that's 3 votes for Sundays and Norton and I are usually pretty indifferent to the day as well.

It's a little too cold for me to even think about another utdoor rifle shoot right now (allegedly the high today will be 21 degrees BEFORE factoring in windchill  )

Yup, I hate cold weather and yes I realize I'm being a wimp compared to you studs out in the midwest or great north that shoot in - 10 degrees. :neener:

Any day of the weekend would be fine with me. I just vote that it's on the Northern end of MD this time so some of us "Northerners" can come pay a visit.

anapex,

There are some tentative plans for a Tax Day shoot on 4/15 at Thurmont. Details hopefully will be forthcoming,.
