anyone have any load data for hornady 68gr BTHP .223 using reloader 15 ? just need a start-stop grains. I was using varget but switched to RL15 since can't find varget.
couldn't find any alliant data for 68gr's so according to you I should try upto 25.5 gr.s with RL-15. will give it a go tomorrow and see how things roll
hornady doesn't even have data for the 68 gr bullets with rl-15 :-x .. I usually use varget but I'm out of it and cannot find any also have n140 but only have enough of that to load maybe 30 rounds.
I use 25.0 with all 68-70gr bullets.
I get ~2,800fps from 20"bbl. NO PRESSURE SIGNS
I get sub 3/4" with Hornady 68's, Sierra and PrivPartisan 69's, and sub 1/2" from Berger 70gr VLD's.
I load 26.0gr with 65gr Sierra GK's, and 27.0 with 55gr's.
These are not max loads; Accuracy loads. You can go a little higher but these are already compressed loads so nothing is really gained by going higher.
RL15 is very good in the .223 with heavier bullets.
I found a great load for 69gr SMK using RL15, just under 25 gr seems to be the sweet spot for my 20" 1:9 AR. Someone gave me most of a pound of RL15 a couple of years ago; I wasn't quite satisfied with the loads I had worked up with Varget (and couldn't find any more) so decided to try the RL15 this year and I'm glad I did. IIRC the data I found started at 23.0gr with a 25.5gr max.
will try the 2.270 oal. My HK Mags have alot more room than standard/gi style so should fit in those but the new gen pmags might give me a little trouble "I use 20 round pmgs for shooting with bi-pod" and the 30rnd HK mags for carry and stand up blastin'
