Hi and thanks in advance for the replies to my questions. I am moving from Indiana to New Hampshire to start a new job and need to move a 308 bolt rifle, a AR 180B semi automatic rifle with a flash hider on it, and a 1911 45 auto pistol. I have to drive through New York and it looks like even if stripped to the frame, the pistol and AR are going to get me in trouble. I looked at the ATF FAQ for transport and it said the firearms can be shipped from my residence in Indiana to my new one in New Hampshire. Anyone do this, and who did you use or would recommend? And last, would it just be better to take them to a FFL dealer, to ship to a FFL in New Hampshire, and re-transfer them back to me? Sorry for all the questions, but it looks like driving even non-stop through NY would be illegal by NYS law, and as I work in health care if I have a problem I could lose my license. Thanks again for all answers!

Where in NH?

if you want to ship FFL, I could give you names of some gun shops.

Congrats on moving to the Granite State.

OK,

I'm in Wolfeboro, about 45 min. north.

Riley's Sport Shop Hooksett 485 5000
Ammo Dump Farmington 755 9800
Seacoastm Gun & Pawn Rochester 335 6210
Olde Colonial Gun Shop Wolfeboro 569 4844
The Gun Closet Wolfeboro 569 6996
Harvey Fire Arms Auctions Farmington 755 9400

However, you are certainly legal to take your guns from home through ANY STATE in the US to your final destination, as long as they are securely stowed.

Nearest range to you in Dover would probably be Farmington Fish & Game.

Add Lewis Arms and Kittery Trading Post to the list of gun shops within driving distance of Dover, NH. KTP is just across the border in Maine.

And El Tejon is correct. Go ahead and drive thru NYS with your guns. Just be sure they are unloaded and cased and NOT in the passenger compartment of your vehicle. Trigger locks are a good idea too.

You will be passing thru Upstate NY, which is more gun friendly than New York City.
