Unlike the old poster, this one doesn't take a whole ink cartridge to print and uses a plain pump 06 instead of a 303 carbine with a raised volley sight. Not sur eit is as visually appealing but anyway...

It is a lot larger than the old image, too. Phrasing and other suggestions are welcome.

I like it better than the old one. The Remington in this picture is clearly a civilian arm, while the Lee-Enfield in the first version is a miliatry weapon. I think this'll get the point across better.

looks like a shotgun ( i know its not), i think you'd drive the point home a bit better with some form of a bolt action, thats the association that i think most people make when they hear hunting rifle. i'd use either a winchester 70 or remington 700, since both are really popular and just reek of "hunting gun" :D blue on wood would pry make a better impression than stainless on synthetic too.

edited for spelling and grammar

BigJake I disagree. I think a pump or lever with a scope on it is best. Any rifle with scope is capable of being accurate, and being accused of being a "Sniper rifle", not just a bolt action.

First, I was thinking along the same line as Bigjake, but TheeBadOne has a very good argument.

This is one fine poster.

I like it. Just fine as is. However...

If you decide to use a bolt-action...don't make it all black. Then it WOULD look like a "tactical" sniper rifle. Must have a wood stock to look like a sporter.

Lever gun w/ scope would be good, too.

This reminds me when I was selling guns at a large (now) national sporting goods chain. A guy came in to buy a slide action rifle for deer. He smugly said that no one "needed" a self-loading weapon and slide action weapons have never been banned.

I asked him if he realized that the UK did exactly this in '87, 4 years prior to his inane statement. He looked the fool he was, and stated that "it would never happen here." I asked him about D.C. or what he knew about California politics.:D

BigJake I disagree. I think a pump or lever with a scope on it is best. Any rifle with scope is capable of being accurate, and being accused of being a "Sniper rifle", not just a bolt action.

Never said it wasnt capable of being accurate, just that the remington pump rifle shown resembles a shotgun at first glance, and that it may prove more convincing with something thats easily identified as a rifle. i know what ya mean though.

I have a 760 Gamemaster Remington in 30-06 inherited from my grandfather. Looks just like that one.

Bit of trivia that IMO makes that particular gun perfect for that poster:

a 760 Game Master slide action 30-06 was used in Martin Luther King, Jrs, assasination.

I'm with the bolt action people on this one... although it looks darn close to my dad's Remington .243.

I'd use "sniper rifle" instead of "sniper gun." Gun can be either rifle, shotgun, or pistol, when in most cases sniping is done with a rifle. Also, to keep it close to your other work, smallcaps would work well too.

Great poster!

The rifle is fine. The poster is aimed at people who already know and appreciate hunting rifles, so I wouldn't stress on it too much. Except for maybe to make it a very popular rifle, like a Remington or Savage, to get more viewers to emotionally identify. My criticism of the poster is that it's missing a "so what?"

The slide is good to get hunters who don't feel threatened by gun bans interested. I used a 700 for several years, but was in the minority of hunters around here. Semi's, slides, and levers predominate. BTW, I traded the 700 for a Savage 99.

I like it it a lot. I think the average guy on the street or out in the sticks will recognize it as looking like a garden variety hunting firearm and not the big black rifle's they associate with assault rifles. The average guy doen't think that gun control is about him or the hunting rifle in his closet.

Good work.....

I like it, quite a bit. I agree with some of the others and think more folks would identify a "recreational" hunting rifle with a Win 70 or Remy 700 bolt action with wood furniture, and perhaps add a little foreboding by changing the text "sniper gun" to "sniper rifle," make it red, and place a black background behind these words alone.

Oleg -- good work. I too tho would substitute ''rifle'' for ''gun'' ... apart from that it works well ...... simplicity - impact ... it's there.

Good to see my Rem Gamemaster 760 being used :D ... but it's in .308!!

Great rifle and certainly a very ''hunteresque'' rifle too .... good choice Sir.

Bolt gun with nice wood might be a tiny bit better, but no big deal really. Or lever-action would work too.

A great addition would be a companion piece of the exact pose with a long-barreled fancy shotgun, or even a double-barrel, with the text "Your hunting shotgun is safe from a ban... until they call it a 'streetsweeper'".

If folks could make up their minds, I will make either a post card set or big posters of the most popular images. need to figure out the economics of doing this. For now, i will provide the high-res file for individual printouts.
