I have recently acquired a Remington 1100 12ga that (when hand-cycled) will not sequentially chamber rounds from the magazine. The symptoms are as follows: when the bolt is retracted/pulled out of battery, a new shell will feed from the magazine onto the top of the carrier, but at that point the bolt remains locked back and the carrier will not release/rise to allow the bolt to go back into battery unless I manually push the carrier release latch.
I am presuming that the action should progress thru a feed cycle without locking the bolt to the rear (so long as a shell is available to be fed), but I'm really not very clear on what action/effect is responsible to 'trigger' the carrier to release.
Any help y'all can provide in understanding the dynamics of this would be greatly appreciated.
