The front sight was a tubular sight (see pics)



You might try to replace it with a front sight from a Rem. Nylon 66. (easier to find but it’s a blade sight) such as in this listing

The nylon 66 sight screw holes are a 1/4 to far for this rifle and the aperture sight holes appear to far apart also. This barrel has a open rear sight and I done believe it was modified as I don't see any holes for a peep on it. Looks like I am going to file in a dovetail type front sight. Thanks
