I noticed on my new Reminton ADL that the barrel no longer is marked "Made in the U.S.A. as they used to be. Anyone know if they are still made in the U.S.A., or elsewhere? Or if there is a reason Remington chose to retain all of the other old barrel stamps/markings, but dropped the Made in U.S.A.? Thanks for any feedback.

If it wasn't made in the USA, it would have to be marked with the country of origin.

It's the law.

And it's actually the law that it must have this info on it somewhere.

A.The model, if such designation has been made;

B.The caliber or gauge:

C.Your name (or recognized abbreviation) and also, when applicable, the name of the foreign manufacturer;

D.In the case of a domestically made firearm, the city and State (or recognized abbreviation thereof) where you as the manufacturer maintain your place of business; and

E.In the case of an imported firearm, the name of the country in which it was manufactured and the city and State (or recognized abbreviation thereof) where you as the importer maintain your place of business. For additional requirements relating to imported firearms, see Customs regulations at 19 CFR part 134.

Thanks to both of you for the comments.

RC Model, thanks for the additional information. THat was helpful. They do mark the barrel Ilion, NY. In fact the barrel stamping is exactly the same as it used to be, "Remington Arms Company, Ilion, NY" followed by the caliber. The only thing missing is the "Made in the U.S.A. which used to precede the caliber stamping. The box says "Made in Ilion, NY". I thought that was odd, instead of saying Made in U.S.A., but from the info you posted, I guess that's one way of doing it. Thanks again.

Maybe they don't count NY as part of the US anymore after the last few gun laws passed.

Interesting. Nowhere on my Springfield M1A Walnut Scout Squad is there any indication what caliber it is chambered for.

Doesn't it say "RIFLE 7.62MM M1A" on the receiver heel like every other one?

Nope. Here is the exact wording engraved (or stamped) on the receiver heel:

US RIFLE M1A

SPRINGFIELD

ARMORY (small capitol "T" in a circle after ARMORY)

"Serial Number"

There are two rows of numbers engraved on the rear of the upper surface of the bolt that appear to be part numbers.

No mention of caliber whatsoever, anywhere. I can post a photo if need be.
