That works very well, BUT those 760 parts to convert are very hard to come by in today’s world.
Yes. Very good shop.Is this the company from Minnesota being reference? https://ahlmans.com/remington-742-pump-conversion.html

Maybe I've just been lucky
I've had and extensively used and hunted
with several 742's in 30/06 and 243, and
most recently a 7400 in 308
Never once a jam or failure to fire or
any of the maladies that everyone reads
about in the magazines
Can't help but wonder how many have
actually extensively used a 742 in good
condition, and how many have just
read about it and passed the information
on down the line.
I can remember in the 80's that everybody
spoke and wrote of how dismal and
purely junky AR15 rifles were, and how
nobody would even want to own one in
another 20 years
I don't know if they still do it. As someone said, parts may not be available anymore, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Good to knowJust took a quick screen shot of their gun smithing services. They still list the 742 to 760 Pump action conversion for $349. So it appears they still do it!
Man, if I can get it converted (being it's a 740 not a 742 but I don't think that would matter, please correct me if I'm wrong), I might have my dad keep the rifle permanently and not trade it.
