Hey Studs,

I'm looking at some mark-down prices on Remington 9MM 124 Gr Ultimate Defense Compact BJHP. This ammo box does not denote "full size or compact ammo".
Here is the deal...3 different ammo sites have 3 different specs!

1. Ammofast - Energy/334 ft-lbs & Velocity-1100 fps
2. Natchez Shooting/Outdoors - Energy/348 & 1125 fps
3. Bass Pro Shop - Velocity FPS/1180, no muzzle energy.

Before the preaching starts...I just like to know what I'm buying & shooting!🧐

Does anyone have any accurate info & any experience with this ammo?

Thanks

Reg

Hey man,

Appreciate cha!

Appreciate your response, but take a look at the the different boxing.

The one you sent shows for "Compact Handgun", The image I uploaded is neither Compact nor Full size as I stated in my original post.
That is what's been baffling me...although I see they both share the same "UPC: 047700427706 and MPN: CHD9MMBN:confused:

So far as I know there is no compact or full sized 9mm ammo.
Do you even think you’d notice the difference between 1100 and 1200 fps in a 9mm handgun? You ain’t shooting silhouette with it.

If that's the case Remington should not advertise it!
The further I've researched it varies from 1020 - to 1125 FPS...that DOES matter to me.

Ain't no telling what I may be shooting at.
IF, I'm buying---I'm Knowing What I'm Buying...PERIOD!

Then your best bet is to run it through a chronograph. Those numbers are at best estimates of you *may* see in your gun. Barrel length, cleanliness, twist, chamber and land dimensions will all affect those numbers. Even your grip will affect fps.
Unless the testing was done with you holding your gun those numbers are only relative.

Yep! I concur.
My friend has a high-dollar one...guess I'll get back a favor for all those he's used down through the yrs.
Seems like some of these sites like to "cook the books" so speak. Obviously, they assume that relatively few will do actual evidence-based research...🙄

Appreciate your feedback.

That photo is for a box of .45 ACP 230 grain cartridges. I took that image, rotated it and blew it up and the manufacturer number is for .45 ACP.

REMINGTON 45 AUTO/ACP 230GR BJHP ULTIMATE DEFENSE AMMUNITION 20RDS - HD45APBN

Perhaps you saw different specs because you were looking at 9mm and .45 ACP?

Remington went into bankruptcy in 2018. In 2022 Vista Outdoors bought the brand.

You may be looking at leftover ammo.

And why the concern over 100fps? If you or your firearm is that picky, you should be loading your own rounds.

Ok...I also looked at what they advertised on the site concerning other ID.
"UPC: 047700427706 and MPN: CHD9MMBN which came back to 9mm, not .45 ACP.

I was aware they went belly up and Vista had aquired them. Hadn't factored in the possibility of leftover stock.
It's not a huge concern...it's just the way I'm wired...always a real stickler for details & principles.
Kinda have another issue with MFER's doing blatant false advertising!

My firearms and ammo concerns are just fine as is, without ANY reloading or unsolicited guidance.

True. I checked different loads against my 4 and 3.3" 9MM and the difference was about 30 FPS. The difference between 5 and 3'3" barrel was closer to 70 FPS. You have to chronograph it to be sure.
