Does anyone know if the 742 will accept sights (specifically the front one) from any other rifle?
I know that a 100 ATR will accept Rem 700 scope bases and the 742 shares magazines with a couple of other Remington semi-autos (750, 4, 7400).
Wouldn't surprise me if the front sight was interchangeable between the new Remington 750. Does anyone know for a fact or have a solution?
I wouldn't mind buying a complete new set. The rifle (which I bought used) came with a rear sight and Bushnell Banner 4-12x 40mm (maybe 30, but I'm too lazy to figure out).

ANYWAYS, I just figured it'd be a bit cheaper to buy the front sight. I wouldn't be opposed to buying a new set if someone can suggest a fast set (I don't want any match aperture sights).

I would bet the front sight from any 700, 742, 760, 7600 will all interchange, but cannot say for sure. I had a few front and rear sights laying around at one time. One of the rear sights off a Remington 700 worked perfectly on a Savage.

Midway does carry front sights. Not sure if this will fit your gun and you will have to order the bead separately but they do have them. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=287478

Check in local gunshops and with gunsmiths. A lot of guys remove the sights when mounting scopes and fill the holes with the filler plugs. Every shop or gunsmith I know who mounts scopes have a box full of sights laying around they will sell you cheap.

I'll check my local gunshop, but the guys in there talk more than anything else. I don't know how it stays open...
That won't fit my rifle I don't think. My rifle uses this sight ramp though. I don't think the holes are threaded correctly for the one screw version.
