How does the Remington SPR453 Autoloader sound for an all around shot gun for a first shotgun ?

I am wanting to turkey and bird hunt and try out Skeet, Trap, and Sporting Clays, but since Ive never owned a shotgun, I am wanting to buy one gun that I can try everything with then decide what I may stick with.

Some info about the gun:

Supplied with four extended screw-in SPR choke tubes – improved cylinder, modified, full and super-full turkey

2 3/4" loads to heavy 3 1/2" magnums

Manually tunable gas system

4+1 shell capacity

Thanks,
J

I have read good reviews on this gun. Never had one. It is a mite heavy for my use. I am an upland hunter. Though I have a safe full of fancy name guns, the Stoeger 2000 is my all around 12 gauge and the Franchi AL-48 is my go to 20 gauge. I have a Franchi 48 in 12 gauge but it is one of the higher grades with the fancy engraving, etc., that I virtually stole. The guys at a local factory had a lottery with the fancy 48 as the prize. I bought one ticket. Didn't win.

The guy that won it, I contacted and he didn't know what he had. I didn't think I needed to educate him. I got it from him for a song. Wrote him a check and got the H" out of Dodge before he could get adequate education.

I have shot it once or twice but keep it in the safe for safekeeping. Just thought I'd through in this to keep the post interesting.

If you don't mind a heavy gun with mixed reviews, the Remington may be OK for you. Just be careful with the gas settings or you will be very frustrated. Read the manual and go by it. It is pretty finicky about the settings, from my reading about it.

Happy hunting.
