Renaming the AR15 and other "Assault Rifles"

Actually, if you're trying to be grammatically correct, "AR15/M4-style semi-automatic rifle" is hyphenated.

Fortunately leaving the hyphen out doesn't mean the words are being used incorrectly.

It isn't a grammar issue, it's a not-using-the-wrong-world-even-though-we-know-it's-wrong issue

Eh. They're rifles. If you want to get specific, intermediate-caliber autoloading civilian rifles with detachable magazines.

I think the idea that an AR is a different type of gun than a wooden-stocked mini-14 unintentionally plays into the prohibitionist meme.

It's also terribly ironic because the worst mass-shooting in history (the 2011 Norway mass-murder) involved a Ruger Mini-14 with a traditional walnut stock.

The amount of murders committed with assault rifles is insignificant. The stat I heard the other day was 0.02% of murders were committed with assault rifles. Now really is that something that should be pursued like the liberals are pursuing it?

Is that "real" assault rifles? or rifles that look like ones with the fire control switch?

There is a comment in here about statistics. :D
