Been considering selling my 357 New Model

KVaquero for financial reasons.
Som ehow, all the thought that made me choose the Vaquero in the first place makes me want to hang on to it more and more!
The rock steady "recoil-profess"and broad ammo capibility are it's main attributes! You can shoot any factory load and with reasonable care, any handload to spec's through it. Mine really favors plus-P cartridges for accuracy! It does really well in that department with all loads but the plus-P does best. I added aftermarket Stag grips but the inboxed and in named set is really special!!! They have depressions in the exact places that your hand needs to fill! The resulting grip is handfilling and very posititive. No hint of the voids factory skimpy grips have. Total control! Wish I knew the manufacturer so I could get a set for my Single Six. The caliber choice was due to sharing ammo with my other revolvers and a Derringer. The .38 family has served me well and the .357 Mag is frosting on the cake!
I chose a 4" bbl for portability and concealment in a old fashioned Texas vertically sholder rig. The Vaquero shares it with my Remington Sheriff perfectly!
If I absolutely don't need to sell it ,I WON'T! It' S just too good!
Any other owner comments please...k

If it were me I would try to find some other way to raise the money to alleviate a financial problem. Sounds like your Vaquero is a lot like mine, a lot of fun to shoot and very versatile in it's use. Hope you can hang onto it!

Thanks for the support guys!!!
Yea retirement, medical costs and fixed SS income makes ya almost make desperate decisions.
No matter what ever happens, I'll NEVER let go of my pet S&W model 10HB Military and Police though! It really is my primary workhorse/ Home/Self defense gun.
I am in love with a Pretty Face in the Vaquero but if worse came to worse I'd have to choose...
You guys kind words really make a worried guy feel better!
Thanks so much!

PS
They never said retirement would be like this!
Golden Years are really tarnished , eh?

I have sold a few of the guns I don't shoot much for the same reason. This last storm season was not a good one for me. I am an insurance adjuster and depend on hail and wind for most of my income. That and health problems have taken a toll on my money pool. But you know what? After selling a few of my guns its really not all that bad. I have my core guns that I won't sell. You know the ones that make to the range or deer fields. The others are just fluff. Nice to look at and I have made or at least recovered what I spent on everyone I sold. Like the Marlin 32 mag lever action I made an $800 profit on. Life goes on.

I hope you can keep it! I have a pair of bright stainless New Vaqueros in .357 which I bought for cowboy action shooting some years ago. I no longer attend matches but I can't bring myself to part with mine either and I don't want to break up the twins. I have smooth ebony wood grips on mine and I agree with you regarding the factory stocks. They fit the hand well and seem to be good quality, for plastic. I have been tempted to put them back on, but the ebony gips look nice!

You gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully in the end you'll be able to keep it. It sounds like you love everything about it.

I have had to sell guns for financial reasons ... I sold my Lever gun collection (25+) centerfire levers some in 375 Win , 356 win ..
My European boltaction rifle collection
three 9.3x62's , two 9.3x67 and four 6.5x55
and over 35 Milsurps ...
All this when I lost my job of 19yrs ,and had to pay bills and keep is afloat , I never could replace them
Then 6 years ago , my health went south .. I had to sell several handguns , mostly my Rugers ... A Speed six snubbie , a 44mag Vaquero, a Custom Redhawk in 454 , two other custom Redhawks in 44mag , two Police Six snubbies , two Security Six , four flat top Blackhawks ... my custom P90 , my two P94's ,a GP100 , two SP101's and a P97 ...
That money paid off a hospital bills ..and kept us afloat during recovery.
All but 4 of my guns are disposable ..
the rest can go .. if need be...
most of my pistols are Glocks now I have only a half dozen or more revolvers, nothing that can't be replaced... not like my my guns of the past

sometimes you have to do what you have to do ...
