Just tried a new RIA M1911-A1 at a local outdoor range. After reading other reviews, I decided to try one for myself. The gun handled better than expected. First eight rounds from 15 yards shocked me when realizing 7 of 8 target holes were touching each other. The 8th round was about 1" from the group. Especially shocking was shooting from a standing position. The group caught the Range Officers attention and he acquired about the gun. 130 rounds were run thru the pipe w/out any hiccup what so ever. Trigger nice and crist. Action was smooth and surprizing. What a nice piece for the price!! I would guess that the price will eventually go up.

The price has already gone up, I got my first "GI" model for like $290.

Great guns for the money about the best bang for the buck in a pistol, only the EAA Witness Elite Match series comes close, but EAA customer support is among the worst.

I love mine too and after a few thousand rounds of every ammo under the sun including +p JHP SD ammo also shot great. Mine by the ways is the 1911 CS and I paid including tax about $400 out the door locally at Centerfire Systems a few miles up the road from me. It quickly replaced my daily 9mm carry gun after I sent it to Arnel at Armscor Precision in NV to have it tuned and Trijicon night sights put on it. They did a great job for me and I only paid for the sights as the tune was done including a better extractor and springs to shoot +P JHP on the warranty. Oh and any work they do is covered under their life time warranty. In my personal opinion the best gun and maker on the market regardless of price as it sure has always been dead on accurate, a lot more accurate than I am for sure.

My brother owns the Tactical version that RIA has and it is a great gun. Very accurate with factory ammo and hand loads as well. I wouldn't mind getting myself one. My father actually just bought an officers model with the GI sights a few days ago and it cost him $350 for it. That was no box or papers. Just the gun and one magazine.

Haven't got to try that one out yet tho.

I can't find a better deal except in the surplus market (CZ82, for example)

RIA has their stuff together, and are taking market share with good product, good CS, and keeping product on shelves - and the guys in NV (particularly Arnel!) are helpful and skilled.

Next up is a 9x19/.22tcm combo for the Mrs, as soon as RIA gets a commander or officer sized version out.

They were an amazing value once. Still a good value now, but the price is creeping past that point IMO. Same for most of the other Filipino imports. I think ATI makes an even better gun. Fit and finish is impressive for the price. Time will tell with them all how well the steel holds up with use.

I'm over 15,000 rounds through my oldest RIA .45ACP this is mostly shooting steel plates -- I hit the line with 200-300 rounds loaded up in magazines and run the gun hard and hot. I'd say they hold up just fine.

This way I spend my range time shooting, instead of stuffing magazines, much more comfortable to stuff them inside where there is air conditioning. Its sad, but on some guns I've spent more on the spare mags for it than I did on the gun.

The "magic" RIA

Used to play with those orange stickers at 10 yards ... you know ... those orange ones 1 inch across.

Two shots on each, clockwise around the target.

Never failed to nail them.

Recently bought a RIA Tactical and am very pleased; thinking about another!

I have the blasphemous Hi cap version. It's an awesome blaster. Dollar for dollar probably the best value handgun I own outside of my C&R pistols.

I recently bought one in 9mm after getting the members here opinions on the gun. I absolutely love it. I wanted the tactical model bc I like the looks better but no one had them in stock. I ended up getting it from Buds. I bought it after my accident so I can't shoot it right handed yet. I'm getting decent with it lefty though. All my friends love shooting it and they are all very accurate with it. A cousin of mine recently got a 1911 springfield and he is much better with my gun. His looks much nicer though.

Yes, the Springfield looks much nicer. More than double the $ though. Thinking of Duracoating frame and slide on the RIA and adding a few extras to make appearance better. All while hoping that I don't end up spending as much as a Springfield RO.

I bought My RI GI Model about three years ago and Paid $400.00 for it.
I had heard a lot of bad things about Them but I had to buy one.
I only had one problem when I had a Squib stuck in the Barrel but it was my fault
as I reload and didn't load enough Powder in the Round.
After more than 2000 Rounds that was the only issue I had with it and I am very happy with the accuracy and dependability of the Pistol.
My Father in Law just bought the compact Model and I am waiting to see if He has any problems with it as I would like one of those too.

I love my RIA two tone Tactical. It is deadly accurate and boringly reliable. No hiccups of any kind in about 2000 rounds. Next up may be the 9mm tactical.

Mine has been great except for a couple problems. One was the very sharp edges, which my gunsmith touched up for me, the other was the gun's bad habit of ejecting straight back into my face. I have enough trouble with flinching and that wasn't helping.

Armscor's customer service is some of the best with which I've ever dealt. They promptly sent me a call-tag and about two or three weeks later the gunsmith called me and told me what they did and shipped it back to me. Sadly, they didn't fix the problem, so they sent out another call-tag and now it's right.

I bought my 9mm FS last summer for $349, its been 100% even with china ammo that choked a SR 9c and M&P 9c. Just a great gun for the money.
