Here is an article posted in the Washington Post today. with a quote by Michael Terry at CTD about ammo prices. I figure everyone would like it.

Quote,""We've had people buy ammunition for calibers they don't even have the gun for: 'Oh, I want to get this gun eventually. And when I get it, ammunition may be hard to get,' " said Michael Tenny, who runs a Fort Worth-based Internet sporting goods store called Cheaper Than Dirt.

Tenny said some of his ammunition tripled in price, but he still sold it: "It's just like playoff tickets."

Nice guy!

Tenny said some of his ammunition tripled in price, but he still sold it: "It's just like playoff tickets."

I remember 364 days ago... They helped this fact along. Seems like they had all the winning tickets!

In between, in the 12 months since last October, gun shops sold enough bullets to give every American 38 of them.

Very Cool, but

But the most recent FBI crime statistics, from 2008, showed that rates of violent crime were the lowest since 1989

But this is too funny. Weren't CCW laws started just before this? :)

Yea, not only did they have the "Super Bowl Tickets" , they seem to have a somewhat negative view of their customers. That line in the article, " We've had people buy ammunition for calibers they don't even have the gun for: 'Oh, I want to get this gun eventually." to me it says, the gun enthusiasts are idiots in our minds. They buy ammo for guns they do not have yet. My Opinion, maybe I do not like persons who screw others, when they can make a decent profit, not an abusive one.

Cheaper Than Dirt

I was a pretty good customer for CTD. But those days are all over with.

Let us not forget that CTD is the home of $65 Winchester Whitebox...

Oh and they have such a great rep for customer service, the sorta place that makes Walmart look like an angel.

One can only hope that someday someone forgets to pay the bill on the domain name and it gets turned into a gay albino Swedish midget donkey porn website.

Can you feel the love for CTD?

They once had decent prices, that era is over.

Say what you want about capitalism, but that place went too far. More like profiteering.

I have a long memory and will never buy there again, regardless if they have the best price on an item.

"It's just like playoff tickets."
I didn't buy them either.
I have no problem with a business charging whatever they like. I can shop elsewhere, and I do.
Maybe they need to change to "Cheaper than Gold."

:fire:Cheaper Than Dirt has been dubbed Lower Than Dirt in my home.

I am a huge "Free Market" kind of guy, but what has occurred at CTD, over the past few months, can only be described as profiteering of the highest order. When CDT posted 50/cnt. boxes.380 ACP ammo at nearly $90.00 while stable merchants like Wal-Mart held their 100/cnt boxes at $34.00, I vowed never to buy from them again.

Lower Than Dirt is a dictionary definition of the word profiteer.

I am pissed at them as well but mostly because their customer service sucks. I cant blame them for marking up ammo because the demand is high. I'll just patiently go to walmart twice a week and get my WWB .45 at $32 and not spend any money with them. Eventually, the prices will come down, availability will go up and they will have to sell at a discount... CTD will lose a lot of customers unfortunately...

Sorry, I don't think so. In fact. BS!!

I had items in my cart with CTD on 11/4 last year. I was about to make a large order.

The next morning everything was double the price. NONE of it was back-ordered. It was all still in stock. They gouged everybody. I logged out that day and never logged back in. Several of us from this and other forums sent them nasty emails regarding this matter.

Mysteriously the prices dropped back a bit shortly thereafter as they saw their market turning on them. I will never order from them again.

Their catalog goes straight in the recycle bin, as soon as it hits the mail box, where it belongs. I will never order from them again.

Marine One: "..gay, Swedish midget Donkey porn......."!!!!....:D = @#:))) $%$^&^*&^ @%@ :0 ;) = mc2 > a true classic nutshell slogan.

I seldom really laugh at the Internet, but you broke my habit and are hereby promoted to Satire Guru.
They should have you next to Dennis Miller on (Fox) O' Reilly's "Millertime"!
Tonight he described N. Pelosi's "sub-reptilian intellect" or such.

Do we now have a gradual, but positive supply shock?
Somebody weeks ago linked us to a guy's ammo ad on Gunbroker: 60,000 rounds of Russian Wolf/Tiger 7.62x39. In a small New Hampshire town.
He might not be one, but the scalpers who kept their items must now be on thin ice. Unless there is lots of Christmas ammo-buying, they will probably feel like the bad guys in the movie "Fargo".

CTD is on my list of companies to not order from. The are free to charge what they want when they wont. Consumers are equally free to not buy from them in response. I have simply kept buying from the places that didn't gouge. Places like cheaper than dirt got money in the short time but I plan on buying guns, mags, ammo etc for at least another 40 years and they wont get another dime from me. The places that didn't try to fear monger and gouge will get that money.

Consumers drive the market let us remember that.

As stated above, I will never buy from CDT again. I do however, allow them to send me their flyers, knowing full well how much it costs them to send it to my door. Every time I receive one, I hear an ethereal "cha-ching", and I know that an angel just got his wings.

CTD used to be a good place to get deals and had good customer service. Now that they are bigger and "better" they don't get my business anymore due to poor CS, high prices, and the recent price gouging.

CTD is like many companies that gouged prices and raised them due to the gun craze that swept the nation. this craze is now ending and those companies (both local and online) that raised prices considerably higher than needed just to make an extra buck no longer get my business.
