Rifle and pistol in same caliber

The idea sounds good, but for me it's just a feel-good thing. I don't go woods walking, looking to kill critters, so there's no practical benefit to handguns and rifles in the same calibers. Not that I don't have some, they just don't give the warm fuzzy feeling I thought they would. I can just as easily take two ammo calibers to the range. If I want a cheap rifle cartridge I'll use .22LR.

About all I get to do is short range shooting these days, so it would make some sense if I only owned one long gun and one handgun. But that's not currently my situation.

Having half a dozen guns all shooting 9mm (or .38/.357 instead) would be fairly logical for me. Then I could just sell off the remainder of what I have. If this was the case, I'd just have to make up my mind of wanting guns with detachable magazines or not.

My brain says to go with detachable magazines. My heart says to do the opposite.

I shoot cowboy matches and have several sets. In .22 I have a Henry with a couple of S&W revolvers. In .357 I have a Uberti 1873, Rossi 1892, and a couple of Uberti revolvers. In .41 I have a Marlin 1894 and S&W revolvers. In .45 Colt I have a Uberti 1873 and a couple Uberti revolvers.
