Rifles for turkey, anyone?

I'd love to get one in 223 over 20.

We have had several rechambered to .223 for customers. It was also made that way from the factory.

I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but I had a Savage M24 in .222/20ga.
I dumped it as it shot 3” x 12” “patterns” at 100yds.
Nothing I tried improved it. It was the inconsistent lock-up of the action.
It actually shot better with the shotgun barrel with slugs. But still not good enough for more than 40yds or so.

In contrast however, I have an old .22/410’r that shoots dime size groups at 25yds from the .22 barrel, and prints .410slugs to the sights at 50yds. If only it didn’t have a plastic stock!

For turkeys with rifles (where legal) a well placed heavily constructed bullet does the best. Like the 75gr .223. Best shot placement is the neck at the juncture of the breast. Just about between the shoulders.
A broadside shot through the breast will likely just pass through. You need to spine them or head shoot them for a quick stop.
Were it legal here, I’d use a .22Hornet, or .22Magnum with solids.

I fire broadside through where the wing joins the body- other than a flip and some kicking, it seals the deal really good.
