Rimfire ARs?

In light of new firearms laws in California, I have been thinking outside the box lately.

Does anyone make a rimfire AR (or other semi) in a more powerful cartridge than .22LR such as .22 WMR? Maybe .17 HMR? Or something I'm not familar with?

Savage makes the A17 which is 17wmr semiauto that a more traditional rifle style


There are a handful of semiauto 22mag rifles. This link may or may it work right for some examples.

It's not an AR, but Kel-Tec offers the CMR-30, a sliding-stock carbine version of their 30-round .22WMR pistol...

Ray Vin offers a 22 WMR upper. Has excellent reputation for accuracy and customer service. I'll be building one on a Tennessee Arms poly lower later this year. Just getting my ducks in a row. I have posted a clarification question on this at Cal_Guns.net just to make sure the build will be AW exempt ...

BrocLuno - Do they ship the Ray Vin uppers with 10 round mags? I only saw 14 rounders.

Thank you everyone for the info and links. The AR uppers you have linked look interesting. Any additional "tactical" type rifles out there?

I suspect you'd have to have Ray install a travel pin in the mag so it would only accept 10... I'm sure he can accommodate. He'll have to do something for Cali customers...

I'm cool with buying the ones he has and doing a pin myself on mine
