RMR Bullets Packaging

While I appreciate keeping the cost down , the way they were packaged leaves a lot to be desired . If they package them , they just wrapped a USPS box with layers of packaging tape . I could hardly get it off . I thought that I was going to have bullets all over the place cutting the tape off . Is this their normal packaging or did something happen at the post office ?
Nope this is their normal packaging.

They've gone through a lot of changes over time and their current packaging is both the most cost effective and the strongest. Some of the early shipping would break open because it wasn't wrapped so completely. The only way it "might" be stronger would be if they doubled boxed...but then they'd be giving up the advantage of Flat Rate Shipping.

The current packaging has the bullets contained in their soft plastic packaging which doesn't break if the out box is dented, the outer box takes the brunt of the impact when tosses about but won't come apart because of the tape reinforcing the outer surface. The packaging is easy to open but cutting without worrying about damaging the bags inside...because they are protected by the cardboard

The packaging I really hate was when I bought primers from American Reloading. They took two 5k count cardboard primer boxes and wrapped them in tape. You couldn't cut the tape without cutting into the cardboard...which would expose the 100-count sleeves of primers

If it fits it ships! Just think how much that saves us given normal rates are size/weight/distance dependent.
I’ve had the plastic bags inside the box from RMR broken but all the bullets were still contained in the box. I’m not going to complain about free shipping OR having to put a few bucks down on insurance.
I will say Blue Bullets switched from plastic bags to a plastic box, with the bullets still in a plastic bag. The boxes hold 1K 9mm. Other calibers vary. They pack 3 boxes to a large IIFIS box. They’re pricing a free shipping for case lots or over 150$ purchase.

What may be overlooked is the bullets are not just dumped loose inside these boxes. They are sealed up in a very heavy duty plastic bag. Don't recall what the weight is, but a couple thousand bullets weighs a lot. Maybe 30 to 40 pounds depending on grain weight of each bullet. Flat rate shipping is the only way to get those shipped free to you at an economical cost.

The RMR packaging has always been fine for me. I did once have the inner bag split open, but the package only contained a single product type so it was not an issue.

These were shipped free and I have never had a problem with them . I like the handy box they come in and they are easily identified . I hope my RMR bullets shoot a lot more accurately than my Xtreme bullets do . IMG_2373.jpeg

Okay. We get it. You’re unhappy with the way RMR packages their bullets. Gripe session done? Feel better? Can we get back to reloading?
Thanks.

No my gripe is all that tape . That looked like an accident that happened at the post office the way it is taped up . I thought that the bullets were loose in that box like the Xtreme bullets are , never using them before and pulling and cutting that tape off I thought I was going to have a pile of loose bullets . Xtreme does an excellent job packaging their bullets in comparison . But like I said if they are a lot more accurate I will deal with it .

that tape ... looked like an accident that happened at the post office the way it is taped up
Likely because @longdayjake probably taped up your box. (Jake, I am kidding ... I am kidding)

Not to worry, they really will me more accurate...mostly due to their consistency.

I've even shot their "Seconds" and was pleasantly surprised at how accurate they were...it just not a great idea to develop your loads with them...I buy all the HMW seconds I can get.

I have once a shipment from RMR which did not have the bullets sealed in bags. Jake was nice enough to be sponsor at our State Match and generously sent us 11k bullets. The postal carrier declined to deliver it and left a note at our match directors house for him to pick them up

Better to have him tape than draw the cartoons
:oops::oops::oops: ... Nooooo .... Amie is the real "artist" :) 👍

I will probably give the mailwoman a break and only order a 1000 bullets at a time . I was surprised that they delivered them to my mailbox instead of just leaving a note for me to pick them up at the post office .

RMR is good stuff. I don’t have any problems with the shipping methods But I don’t think the mailman likes me much.
Bulk Mail person hates my address! Midway, Powder Valley, my Brother, now RMR… Small package that weights 30 pounds!

might want to check the mailbox post! little extra QuickCrete! just dig a hole around the post and pour the powder in, it will set itself

I live in a rural area the postal service doesn’t even deliver down my road . My mail box is on a 2x12 board with about 10 other mailboxes held up with telephone post .

I don't remember how my last order was packaged but I do remember thinking that "wow these were packaged well". Unlike a few that I have received from other places.
