I've always thought it was a bad idea. But if Yeager says it's a bad idea maybe it's worth another look.

Thanks for the posting so I can add them to the list of folk to not open links for in the future.

I shoulda judged that book by the cover before I even hit play.

Hiding his contempt for open carry by cloaking it in loathing for "ass clownery" political statements pushed him right over the edge as a professional source for me.

Don't OC because you might offend someone and give them ammunition for further anti-gun legislation, and besides, I'm an expert and I think you're just doing it to make a statement....:banghead:

If it isn't have to type of situation (CC being illegal) just pull your shirt over it. At the same time where OC is common no one really notices or cares if you have a gun on your hip. I'll have to agree also that these guys OCing with a camera rolling all the time and going out of their way to challenge LEOs are not very bright.

I think political statements have their place and there are some times when OC is my best option but in general I see it somewhat like I viewed knife carry back when gun carry was much more restricted.
Remember the guys with the big Arkansas Toothpicks and Bowie knives compared to those with the 110's on their belts?
I always thought the former to be somewhat ostentatious with the later being more utilitarian, same for a gun IMO so I generally keep it well inside my waistband or use a light shirt for cover. I don't quiver in fear of it printing or someone getting a glimpse if I reach for something on a shelf but don't want it flashing brightly in a crowd either.

I only watched the first one. That was enough for me. It looked like a marketing video from a couple of blowhards. They have lots of opinions, but I didn't hear any facts, other than gun law changes.

And the one guy totally misses the point that California helped the 2A cause when they banned unloaded open carry. They are now in blatant violation as clarified by the Heller and McDonald decisions. They will be straightened out soon enough, assuming Obama does not get a chance to appoint another Supreme Court Justice. Open carry advocates have made great progress in Washington State, getting bad laws repealed and illegal police activity corrected.

"Most of the guys I've seen doing this are not trained." How exactly would he know that?

They are good at sounding like they know what they are talking about to the uninitiated. I would not take a class from either of them.

Guys, Rob Pincus is not a blow hard and he knows his <deleted>. I have taken six classes with him and know him pretty well; if you disount his opinion because you don't like his stance you are selling yourself short. Pincus IS opinionated, but he's thought about every single one of them. He's taken steps to prove/disprove his hypothesis, and he's satisfied himself that "x" is true and correct. That is his trademark.

Now I happen to agree with him. I think Open Carry is ostentatious and used by those with an agenda (albeit an agenda that I might otherwise support). I don't like showboats or braggards and the urrent OC crowd smacks of that to me.

I'm with Pincus. I am not a James Yeager fan, he is incidental.

+1

I do not agree with Pincus in the statement that OC in an urban environment has no advantages. Opinions are like...........

This reminds me of the old saying that it is best not to talk about politics and religion because it might offend someone.

While this might be true, the 1A is there to make sure that if we do say something about politics or religion that offendes some people, they can not use the power of the state to silence us.

Why should the 2A be any treated any differently?

Like maybe his "stance" on 1911's being "antiquated" and only striker fired weapons worth considering?

I didn't bother reading the links once I saw his name.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about open carry. My problem is when they wish to use the power of the state to codify that opinion into law and force it on the rest of us.

You know anyone on this board that does that?

Reading the link on Mr. Yeager's bio gives one the impression that the gentleman has trouble keeping a job.

I wouldn't take any advice about weapons or tactics from a coward that got his teammates killed in combat and threw them under the bus posthumously (ie that coward being Yeager).

I did not like any thing thay had to say and I put this on there Facebook about sub compact 45s.
David L. Schroeder

I have a High Standard sub compact 45acp and I have shot over 2,000 rounds out of it with no failuerd of any kind . may be its that the over priced Kimbers just SUCK ! so don't make a blanket statement that sub compact 45 suck . mostly ROB YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

While I'm not a fan of open carry I don't oppose it where it is legal. Being confrontational with open carry is a mistake IMHO.

Well put. I don't open carry often, but I reserve the right to do so when I choose. I really appreciate those who open carry to educate others. The ones looking for trouble, not so much. If you're calm, polite and non-confrontational, more power to you.
