With RRA response attacking 2a supporters i think this company has now taken first place poop position from Springfield.

“This boils down to a small, so-called gun-rights activist website [The Truth About Guns] that took the majority of things out of context, to make it sound like Rock River Arms and Springfield Armory were IFMA,” she said. “We did not have control over all actions. IFMA acted autonomously on our behalf.”

“Now, we are all working against one another,” Larson said. “How can one call themselves a Second Amendment activist when all they do is take things out of context, present half-truths and, seemingly and purposefully, create conflict within the firearms community.”

At least Springfield has been somewhat trying to make up for their actions but rra seems to think lashing out is good marketing strategy?

Have to agree, they are doing a great job of creating fire sale pricing on their guns everywhere. Never thought I would buy one but now? How low will they go? Takes on multiple meanings in this light.

And to think nobody in the next lane at the range will even notice.

The original version of the bill did not exempt firearms manufacturers. IFMA became neutral on the bill once Senator Don Harmon amended the bill to exempt gun manufacturers.

Quite short sighted indeed.

Reminds me of shotgun/bolt action guys that don't mind them banning semiautomatic rifle ("assault") and are so short sided that can't see that they own "street sweepers" and "sniper rifles" down the road.

If the opposition can't get what they want they will take what they can get now and get the rest later.

Like our current "health care" it was never intended to work. It just gave government the control and down the road they have to "fix it" by taking even more control.

Hey let's be fair; no fair market would have ever tolerated the Cobray Streetsweeper for very long. Those things were stupid & terrible.

An intelligent SA management would seek out something big, bright, and flashy to redeem themselves with as opposed to apologies. But clearly they still think they aren't going to lose a lot of money on this screw up regardless, so they're doubling down on back-talking the consumers.

Proceeds of all XD pistols going to pro-gun opposition to anti-gun bills in Illinois & elsewhere for a year would be a good start, even better if they work out some kind of longer term penance arrangement. Refusing to sell XD pistols to Illinois LEOs in districts that enforce this dealer law is an even better start.

Generally speaking, shooters are WAAAAAY too willing to launch an all-out, burn-everyone-at-the-stake witch hunt at even the very slightest implication of impropriety, without all the facts. Taking every single decision made by a corporation, whose first responsibility is to their shareholders, as a personal slight against not only the individual, including individuals who are not even paying customers but to liberty, freedom and the Constitution itself. No other industry is held to such lofty standards. This crap gets way too out of hand way too quickly.

Huh?
Impractical? probably.
Stupid? says who? don't like it don't buy it, but that is no reason to ban them.

I heard they had reliability issues, so maybe they were "terrble" but in no way were they any more "deadly" than your average 12 ga -- especially the ones modified/designed for 3-gun competitions. Speaking of which, things like the Mossberg JM Pro seem unwieldy to me, but I sure don't want them banned!

OTOH everyone gets a big smile blasting away with my 12ga Saiga and its 20 round drum -- not very practical but even people who've never fired a shotgun before enjoy playing "Zombie slayer" blasting a 12-pack of shaken-up cheap carbonated beverages :)

Every "hunting rifle" is a "deadly sniper rifle" after a couple more ratchet clicks of anti-gun "sensible" steps!

Rock River is privately held.

Also, various agencies of the Federal Goverment are major customers of Rock River, so they may be a little less sensitive to customer opinion than companies that aren't shoveling a bunch of their revenue out of the U.S. Treasury.

We have a thread on this running in Activism and it is pointed out that RRA and Springfield worked out protection from the proposed legislation. We also have a thread here in General about them.

You missed the point all together. "Assault rifle" is a made up term to describe a semiautomatic centerfire rifle that some people want no one to have or enjoy.

"Street sweeper" would just be another term to give a negative connotation to Granpaws old wall hanger side by side or your kids 870.

Same thing for "sniper rifle", the only thing that makes the "evil" one different from the one that you have only used to poke holes in paper, is the name someone calls it.

You did prove my point though, in that people are short sided at times and don't see "the end game". It's the "I don't care about that kind of gun, ban them." Folks that do as much harm as those that want them gone. After they are all gone except whatever it is that you care about, guess what they are going to come after then?

Now ask yourself who do you have left on your side? At that point you will wish you hadn't thrown everyone else overboard.

Same thing with the OP they supoort a law that hoses everyone else but they get an exemption. I have to wonder if they are actually naive enough to think that will be the end of it? When the next round of legislation comes around, who will be there to give them support?

Divide and conquer, that's all you should be thinking, because that's what they are thinking.

As HSO pointed out, there are two other threads for this same topic. We are running close to beating a dead horse. Companies take actions at times that directly benefit themselves. Those choices, even with the best of intentions have unintended consequences. Sometimes you have to take the high road a la Springfield Armory instead of going after the messenger. The first helps with recovery, the second deepens the hole.

On every issue you probably have 40% for and 40% against and 20% that don't have a clue. In most industries you don't want to get that 40% on the other side of an issue upset with you. In the Gun Industry you only have the 40% to begin with. We are so used to getting the short end, that any slight, can cause a massive backlash. Don't re-accommodate, just ask United. Or speak with Target about bathrooms. Their competitors have the same policies, but they kept quiet. Target did an "in your face" and got a backlash.

hardly seems like enough :scrutiny:

Two other threads on the subject and it takes little effort to find out what RRA and SA did. By continuing to support either company, one becomes complicit IMO.

Corporations play by the crony crapitalist rules that they helped create. The overwhelming majority of manufacturers have participated in the practice, at one time or another.

Not sayin it's right, but it is what it is.
