Here's some donations IFMA made to various things (the URL is humongous and below).
Item of interest:

$3500 total to the Senate Democratic Victory Fund, in 2010 and 2012. Purpose: Elect Democrats candidates to the Illinois State Senate

Also features several Democratic candidates for Illinois office.

Oh, and Friends of Michael J Madigan. $3550 for a golf outing in 2013. He's the Democratic Speaker of the house in Illinois.

Weird. But, it's Illinois.

I'll admit; I'm less concerned about them giving money to Dem's than the deal getting the carve-out for their business. THAT's where they betrayed their customers to benefit themselves.

Earlier in the week I called SA to let them know they needed to do whatever they could to make this right. My phone number was obviously on their caller id, as I received a call back from them this afternoon. The lady I was speaking with asked if I had any questions or comments. I told her I read the latest statements they released, had never met Dennis Reese so I was not making any judgments as to his character but like many people was having a hard time understanding how he could not have known what was going on. It wound up I was talking to his daughter. She said things had happened that could not be disclosed yet. My advice to her was to have her father provide an explanation as well as documentation as to what happened, as we're living in a time where politicians and CEO's routinely lie to us, so skepticism is to be expected. FWIW she couldn't have been nicer and we had a very civil conversation. If their lobbyist really did this without their knowledge, they need to provide that documentation asap. If they were aware of this I don't see how I can support them in the future.

That's good feedback Tom. Thanks for sharing. I hope they realize the sense of urgency here. The house is on fire right now. Taking a methodical, cautious approach may mean they'll be explaining what REALLY happed over the ashes of what used to be SAI.

I can tell you that she definitely had a sense of urgency. More importantly she listened to what I had to say as opposed to debating with me. I'm not defending what they did, but I can tell you that there's at least one person in their organization that understands the trouble they're in.

Is there a gist of the bill someplace? I have read on the internet that the "carve out" also includes "big box" sporting goods stores that sell substantial but not majority firearms.

We have long complained that there is not a digital definition of "doing business." Now there is in Ill., ten deals a year.

I guess if 3 of the 4 members of the IMFA are SA and RRA execs they really did know what was going on. Everything I have read and I still see nothing from SA or RRA telling the gov to shove the exemptions carved out for them. Do that and I might believe them. but we know it ain't gonna happen. If they did though, WHEN the bill becomes law they can eat it with the rest of the state or tuck tail and move to another state to get away from their mistake/sellout/lies

I will never spend a dime on RRA (haven't yet but was looking at a couple NM rifles for my son and me) and planned on buying an SA NM M1A and a couple more 1911s from SA. Not gonna happen. I take people out as much as possible to introduce them to the wonderful world of guns. The guns and ammo are on me and I have converted /introduced a whole lot of people who went on to take classes and buy their own firearms. I feel it is a worthwhile investment. No more recommending SA and I have recommended RRA by reputation, but no more.

I have a very long memory and I am not very forgiving these days of traitors. CTD lost me as a customer back around 2008. They have had items I really wanted and could find nowhere else. I just go without, no biggie. I did buy a Ruger SR22, but Bill is dead so to hell with him.

I also still despise Ted Nugent for his Zumbo fiasco. Zumbo stabbed us in the back and gave the anti's something to use against us forever even though he "took it back" and became a "born again" ar-15 supporter. Too late, damage is done, join Ruger Sr.......

Take this for what you will. Flame away...doesn't matter to me at all.

Approximately 1990, Gaston Glock stated, in a telephone conversation recounted to me by the other party, that "Americans ought not be allowed to own guns, because they are too stupid [to know to store them unloaded]."

I don't see anybody boycotting Glock or their products, and the Americans he thinks are too stupid to own guns have made him a centi-millionaire.
but it was a stupid greedy American that told glock to almost triple the cost of the gun to sell in US after glock told him what he wanted to sell the glocks for

I wrote an email to Springfield just today:

To whom it may concern,

I was really excited about your impending release of the Springfield XD-E, you may have had a new customer in me with a single stack DA/SA concealable firearm, as there is not many options in that arena. But I must regret to inform you I am no longer interested in your offerings as you chose to put your companies sales and betterment ahead of the mandate all free Americans have in supporting the constitution and the 2nd Amendment. As it is well known in the firearms community your actions in saving your interest in Illinois through carving out your exemption of licensing requirements in SB-1657, in doing so you are sacrificing any reputation you once had. It is no surprise when Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms both contribute $50,000 each to the IFMA, and in turn the IFMA lobbies for their special rights while soaking any other firearm dealers in Illinois who still feel the urge to fight rather than compromise. You’ve made my future choices of discretionary income much easier, as there are plenty of firearms manufacturers who have located in “free” states and have kept their most important mandate in the forefront of their decision making; the mandate to support the freedoms for all to participate in the 2nd Amendment on an equal playing field.

Until firearm manufacturers get the point they need to be located in free states and guard against any compromises on the 2nd Amendment, the other side has won. Take a page from Magpul, if you feel that it is too burdensome to move your operations, as long as they continue the path they have forged, which wasn’t an easy or immediately fiscally prudent one (but the correct one that deserves much respect and loyalty) they will always have an eager consumer in myself and anyone I talk to. I realize you have loyal employees in Geneseo, but to only think of them is short sighted at best, people need to understand that decisions have consequences and if they are truly loyal they will follow you to a free state, if not then they can continue down the path of being complicit in the fracturing and erosion of our second amendment rights and move over to Rock River Arms or find other employment.

Supporters of the 2nd Amendment are not so easily manipulated as your company and Rock River Arms think they are, it is not too late to stand with us and turn from this back room deal and be a company that has integrity and backbone. Until you do so you will have no friend in me, and I will make sure that it is known what you have done
.

I was at a buddy's shop that does custom work yesterday. He was saying he had parts for the xds, but that they had become toxic in that folks are revolting against them and inventory will be hanging around. Interesting that if springfield thinks this is going away they are wrong.

I received an unsolicited package yesterday from Springfield Armory via FedEx. No cover letter, just a large 8 1/2" x 11" stand up counter display of several dozen tear-off sheets informing Illinois residents of the dangers of SB-1657!

If only they weren't complicit in getting it to the house in the first place.

Burning down the barn after the horse escapes.

"We first focused on making sure it doesn't apply to us. Now that it is moving forward, we will feign concern for everyone else."

I appreciate that Springfield Armory is trying to do something to mitigate the damage, but it begs the question: Mitigate the damage to Illinois residents' and Illinois gun dealers' rights, or to SA's falling sales?

It somehow feels to me like I would imagine it feels when a spouse is caught 'cheating' and then tries to convince the aggrieved party that the cheater is sorry, wants to 'make up for' the offense, and will amend their life, never to stray again.

S&W nearly went out of business in 2000 when they capitulated to Clintonesque "safety" mandates.
Colt went way overboard making AR actions incomparable with FA parts, bending way over for TLA blessings.
Big, stupid corporations gonna do what they do. Letting them know we're watching is good.
This too shall pass.

I don't see anything in the flyer saying maybe...

"we tried to be big shots and have our own lobbying group but we somehow changed our opposition to this bill to neutral. That got the ball rolling on this legislation. We are telling The State of Illinois to shove their exemptions, unlubed! If this bill becomes law we will pay the price for our sellout just as the gun dealers and residents of IL will. Sorry we stuck out noses into something that we couldn't handle, making things worse."

Ain't gonna see any of that since it was intended to screw everyone but SA, RRA, and the big box stores. I sure hope they don't move to another state cause it will start all over again resulting in another screwed state.

What Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms need to do is refuse to be treated different then any of the other firearm dealers and stand on the same level playing field and battle this. It seems to me that they made sure they were exempted first and then stand beside all the others who will be taken down with this legislation.
