Going to shoot a few rocks today. I have this place to plink where no one is for miles. Today I will use the 30-06.

I have a place somewhat like that but without the trees and it's much longer in length. It's the western edge of the Llano Estacado. Some rocks are soft for a rock and many make a puff of white dust when hit. It's a mixed bag and a whine can be heard when a bullet glances off some of them while other crumble into gravel. No one lives within miles of this place so it doesn't matter. There are no natural trees growing here and south of me quite a few miles is a little town. named----you guessed it, "No Trees".

I enjoy rock shooting, No targets to put up, no mess to clean up, just shoot and have fun. My gun club range is situated on about three inches of dirt over caliche rock and the berms have a lot of rocks in them. Sometimes just for relaxation I will quit on targets and shoot rocks on the berms.

Nice spot and I'm sure, lots of fun!. No places like that here, at least not that I'm aware of. But I do love outdoor shooting. Pine cones, walnuts, sticks, and an occasional sandstone rock here.

In the late-90s, I inherited a big pile of APM2, with a little bit of API and M25 tracer thrown in. Making gravel out to rather ridiculous distances for an old M1917 was a common pastime! Some day in the distant future, an archaeologist may wonder if Canada invaded the USA in 1942-45. My buddy had a bunch of WWII .303 we shot out there too!
