I do love my 10/22s ,I was wondering what spare parts it would be prudent to have on hand, any input would be appreciated.

Was it me?

Recoil spring and guide rod.
Extractor, plunger, & spring.
Firing pin and retainer pin.

Front & rear sights and an extra stock if you plan on falling down a lot, or slamming it in car doors.

Actually was it me?
I wouldn't buy any extra parts, and never have.

Mine is nearly 50 years old and hasn't broke anything yet!

recoil assembly and the works of the extractor sound good to me

Swapping to Tech Sights or similar for more useful and durable sights isn't really a spare part, but you'd have the old sights as spares after, I suppose

My solution has just been to buy entire spare rifles, between the Mrs and I we have 4 of them at this point

Now theres a good idea!!

They are on sale at Walmart & Cabala's for less the the sum total of some of the parts all the time.

Ruger Parts

I have never had anything break on mine, I have had it since 1986 and just recently changed the barrel to a Green Mountain .920 diameter barrel 20 inches long. I have broken the barrel in and have been shooting quite regular since. I never found a stock I liked for the new barrel so I modified the original stock to accomodate the bigger diameter barrel, I think it turned out great. I like it and that is the main thing. Other than that after no telling how many thousands of rounds went through the original barrel, that is the only part that is not original now.

Spare parts needed?,those boxes of gold colored cylinders. My 10/22 keeps breaking them and sending the top half(mighty fast I might add) a long ways off. No matter how many I put in it they just keep breaking;)

My original is about 40 yrs old and the front half of the front site is broken off but it still works fine. I have changed over to improved parts on some of my 10/22's but it wasn't because the stock ones broke, I guess I have some spares if needed.
Put me in the camp that says buy more guns or keep the parts you replace in case you need them.

I have never broken anything on my 1969 model 10/22. I can't count the rounds me, my kids, and now my grandkids have put through it.
