Have been shooting a lot of .22 over the past year because I have a.nice stock pile of ammo for them. I've always enjoyed the .22 , but have been shooting even more of it lately. Because of this , I've thrown a few dollars in to my 10/22 to make it a little more friendly. I just installed a BX trigger kit from Ruger last week , considerably better than the stock trigger. Tonight I just received a new bolt for the rifle that I ordered from KIDD Innovation , the action should be much smoother now. Thinking I may purchase a barrel from KIDD next and continue to try and improve this fun little rifle.

^^^^GREAT analogy! The Ruger 10/22 is just one of those rifles that are quite easy to work with/on and where that can be done at the owners will. Changing parts both internal and external are very easily accommodated, almost like working on an AR.
You'll never go wrong with any of Tony Kidd's parts. I assembled this one a couple of winters ago and it's a shooting marvel:

KIDD. It's pretty much all KIDD provided parts.

Put my Kidd bolt in the other day ( I have the same scalloped black bolt as your rifle ), shot it yesterday , definitely much smoother action from this product. I would like to buy one of his barrels next , but I believe I will have to buy an aftermarket stock first ( I don't think his barrels fit a original Ruger stock).

No, you're correct about most all of his barrels. They are normally 0.920 in diameter, but there are lots of aftermarket stocks out there that won't break the bank, like Hogue.

the only think to keep in mind about kidd and other target barrels: they sometime have tighter chamber than factory, which can lead to jams if using bad ammo or a dirty gun. I have a kidd barrel on my 10/22, and it's fantastic. my 10/22 is as accurate as my cz now. But it is pickier than the factory barrel was. Same thing when I replaced my mkii upper with a paclite.

I put my 10/22 is the hogue nylon stock. same shape as the typical overmold, but it's not flexy and sticky. if I had it to do over, I'd look hard at the victor titan https://victorcompanyusa.com/home

I haven’t done the full target treatment on my 10/22’s, but I did do the BX trigger and a Volquartsen extractor on them both.

Very easy upgrades for the novice that are affordable and really improve the stock 10/22 rifle.

Stay safe.

I put the BX trigger assembly in two weeks ago as well , big improvement over that junkie stock trigger

If you want to upgrade without going to a heavy barrel, Midway has Shaw sporter weight barrels with Bentz chambers for $100 +/-. They fit the factory carbine stock barrel channel and definitely improve the accuracy.

These things are like Legos or an erector set there are so many different options that you could go broke trying them all. I ran into this with my Ruger MK II's already.
"Erector"... That's a word I haven't heard in so so long. I had three, all from the Discovery Thrift Store on.. Hondo Pass I think? I used to love building cars with the servos.
