went to a small show sat. morning with a few friends not expecting much. well it was very crowded and it was hard to look,so i took a break and went to the enterance and a man came in carrying a ruger #3 in 30-40 krag and i ask to look at it and how much was he asking and he told me. he said a dealer out side had offered him 300.00 for it,but he thought it was worth a little more and i agreed and paid him the 400.00 he wanted. it,s a real nice rifle made in 1977 with a ex bore. eastbank.

Good deal, I like the Krag have a bolt type very accurate, I doubt yours was fired much. Hope you reload.

Great rifle.

The 30-40 is one of the best cartridges for cast bullets. Long case neck and moderate velocities. Some very popular Lyman molds, throwing 200 and 220 grain bullets, were actually used for 600 yard cast bullet shooting around 1900. The factory velocity of 2200 fps is about what you will get with a 220 cast bullet in a 30-40.

Tell us how it shoots.
