at a friends estate auction his ruger 77 in 6.5x55 in wood-no sights ex condition is comming up at auction this sat. i have 8 6.5x55,s now, six swedish army rifles and a cz 550-remington classic. what would be a good price?

Tang safety, MkII, or Hawkeye?

$650 for a tang safety, $750 for a MkII or a Hawkeye. Just the rifle.

Any glass?

If stainless, add maybe $100.

Take a look at what they are going for in your area and even area specific doesn't mean much. I see a few at auction in the $1,000 to $1500 range but the few I saw also had Zero bids. When I attend a live auction I arrive early and check things out up close and personal. Then I set my limit as in what is that gun worth to me? I won't go over my limit. So what is the gun worth to you? :)

4B8364BB-3B77-473B-91D4-C5896793E0DC.jpeg I gave $600 for my M77 MK II in 6.5x55. It’s wood and blue with a good bit of work done to make it shoot better. Action is bedded and Trigger has been worked over. I realize now how good of a deal that was. If it was a friend’s rifle, I’d give $750 or so to own it.

no glass, i think the auction people took all the scopes off all the rifles to sell them by selfs, i know the rifle a blue-wood-no sights 77 bolt safety that shot pretty good. i was thinking 600-650, if i get it or not i,ll get a picture of it.

now i know where all the 6.5x55 rifle i was interested in have gone--eastbanks got them all!

i have been running 120gr nosler BT,s at over 3000+fps and 140gr noslet BT,s at over 2800+ fps with a healhy charge of n-560 in my CZ 550 with no signs of pressure.

I think you're right in the ballpark. I'd go up to $700 if it had exceptional wood.

Sounds fair.
I probably wouldnt go much higher unless you really wanted it for reasons besides the physical value.

seems a familey member wanted the ruger 6.5, it went for 800.00, but i bought his kinber US .22 rifle - TC encore 45-70 with extra .50 muzzle loader barrel - long barreled 45-70 pedersolie sharps - TC .50 hawken cap lock rifle and .43 spanish and siemese 8x52 cases with molds and 50-70 loaded rounds(modern). i,ll get pic,s of the ruger and the rifles i bought later.

It’s a bummer that you didn’t end up with that Ruger, but at least it is with a family member of his and you didn’t get outbid by Joe Nobody. Congrats on your other purchases though. It’s going to be awesome to think of your friend whenever you use his rifles.
