Ruger Alaskan 44 mag and Buffalo Bore

TennJed is absolutely correct, you can feed that ruger nothing but the hottest loads you can find for the rest of your days and not hurt that gun

I have shot a fair amount of the BB 305 gr LBT-LFN out of my Alaskan. It is pretty manageable, but an attention getter, and requires a very firm hold in order to get back on target in a reasonable time frame. For my purposes, and based on my experience with the other BB load and some pretty hot ones from other manufacturers, I think shot-to-shot recovery times with that 340 gr +P+ load would be so long as to negate any gain in energy. FWIW, Buffalo Bore's 255 gr Keith bullet is what I used to shoot in my S&W 629 Mtn Gun, and a real pussy cat out of the Alaskan.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to try some real hot stuff just for fun.

But for woods carry I think I will try these 255 keiths out. Should be enough to handle any bear/cat problems.
