Okay not sure if this is the right section for this but it seems like the best fit.

Looking at the charger the pistol grip is held on by a machine screw running through the chassis behind the receiver. Now it has a sling stud up front so obviously this isn't a really necessary thing but here's my question, or perhaps dubious idea.

What would be the danger in an enterprising individual with a drill press and some free time in finding an appropriate rod, threading both ends putting a cap on top and drilling a hole through the assembly for a d ring and bubbaing up a 21st century saddle ring carbine.

Obviously the pistol brace adapters exist and some of them have a slot for a qd sling attachment but this seems simple enough that I need to be told why it's a bad idea.

Pics added to kinda show the general idea.

Black = threaded rod
Blue = spacer
Orange = d ring

Hmmmm, I bought a bungie sling with QD from UTG for <$35. But you want to be told why it's a bad idea to Buba your new PC Charger? I say go for it and post pictures.

Oh sorry it's the .22 version I keep forgetting that the PC version shares the same name.

If you're putting a lanyard/sling ring on the end of the pistol grip bolt, no problem. Matter of fact, it sounds cool.

Came up with this for mine, can be used as a single point or two point mount. Sure there are other ideas out there.

Alright bubba went to the hardware store.

Then bubba forgot that he needed to leave enough excess to file the burr off the bolt and had to cut a new one.

Then bubba decided that he had too many spacer nuts and the swivel was too high.

Then bubba bought some Paracord.

It's ugly but it works. Push it forward and you can actually rest your cheek on the top of the sling. If it were a metric bolt and threads it would be easier because then I could just get stuff from work.....errr I mean legitimate procurement channels.

In hindsight an eyelet would probably be better. Which it's great that that just now occurs to me. I'm probably going to take it back to it's factory configuration and get on Amazon to find one.

But it hangs really well under your armpit and tensioning the sling makes a whole lot of difference. Gives you a little bit of a 90's era tv vice cop feel.

Of course now bubba is wearing aviators and looking up form 1sbrs and e-filing and looking at the last relief check like he has a clue what he would be doing there.

Oh probably should go ahead and say how it's been working out for me. I actually really like it. Haven't tried to use the bipod (too many ticks to lay down) but 20 yards with the Burris fast fire standing up and no support soda cans are no problem. I have been holding it like I would a carbine one hand on the forend and one on the pistol grip and it's been pretty good. The fast fire does need to be locked down with a screwdriver hand tight and it walks out, and of course 10/22 magazines are really bulky comparatively but lodes of fun.
