I received a Ruger Impact 22 as a gift. Mounted the scope and shot it a little bit make sure I like the scope position before I loctite it down. Shot it at maybe 15 yards accuracy was a little wonky but I just loctite it down this morning and I am hoping it will settle down a bit. what kind of accuracy should I expect? and what range? This my first air gun since I was a kid and would like to use it on squirrels and wood chucks. Any advice or experience would be great. thanks in advance

Considering the ruger is roughly 100 bucks and is a 22 caliber and the texan is what around 1000 bucks and is a 45 ? I doubt they have any similarities. Unless the search was wrong.

I agree, the differences in the two airguns are tremendous. The main difference being that one is a PCP and the other is a barrel-cocked spring piston gun.

Have you ever shot a spring piston airgun before? They aren't like most "guns" in that they begin to recoil before the pellet even starts moving down the bore. Shooter technique and consistency become pretty critical.

I'm speaking to each their own. If it performs how it's supposed to at whatever distance as mine does at its distances, he should love it. I've used the ruger, but I wouldn't own it.

The only thing it'll have in common with a Texan is they're both airguns.
An Impact is a chinese made gun and accuracy varies too much from gun to gun to estimate. The power is likely ~15ftlbs but often varies +-3. You can estimate range using the free program Chairgun but that varies a lot on pellet choice, so when you use it be sure put the BC # in if you know it, and velocity if you know it. A typical weight (14.3gr) round nose pellet will have a BC ~.025, which is in the attached pix and should be a fairly close to your gun.
Will accuracy improve? Typically, but I think it's more about the shooter getting better. Will it shoot smoother? Usually, but probably not by much, and again imo it's the shooter, meaning they get used to the noise/feel.

Chinese made? Shame on you Ruger. And I never thought about the BC of pellets. Usually you just shoot it, knock the can over, rinse, repeat.

Spring cockers aren't hard to shoot accurately.

These two groups were shot at 20 yards, on a windy day.
Top one with a Beeman C1 .22 carbine. (Including two groups while sighting in after a scope change.)

Bottom one with a Beeman R-7 .177 just checking zero.

Both have 3-9x scopes.
Shot standing from a step ladder rest in the garage, into a pellet trap in the front yard at 20 yards.
