My mother in law bought an LC9 a few years back, and shot it maybe three times. she put it away, gave it to me because I guess I don't have enough guns.

I pull the trigger, but it doesn't engage anything. I don't know what to take pictures of to help.

The internal lock needs to be off.

Your RUGER® LC9 pistol is equipped with a magazine
disconnect. This device prevents firing if the magazine is removed from the
pistol. Try it with tbe magazine in the gun.

Read over the instructions.
Let us know if above is no nelp.

I did, even tried it with a dummy round. Nada.

My advices: send it back to Ruger. It sounds like you are not dependent upon the gun so get the best fix possible. Call CS service first. They might talk you through a fix. If not, they will set you up to return for repair. They give fast service, and mostly free unless the gun was damaged by the owner.

I'll call tomorrow.. I mean monday. So this gun has that weird safety lock , which needs that key. Looking at the manual online, it seems I need said key. I don't know how it was engaged, as I know for a fact it didn't come with it.

Well, I have an update. So when I called Ruger, they basically said that the recall is over, and I'd have to pay ,yadda yadda yadda. I decided not to send it, and put it on the back burner.

Today, I pulled it apart, manhandled the safety like i do my mistress with a pair of needle nose pliers, and now it works. It still baffles me , she never even had the safety key, how in the hell did it lock itself?

Anyways, consider this case solved.
