This past weekend I got a Ruger 22/45 SS Target model in trade as .40 and .45 ammo is through the roof at the gun range. I had a blast! I forgot just how much fun these guns are to shoot. I often see older guys shooting them and not many younger guys and all I can tell the younger guys (myself included) is that you shouldn't under estimate the joy you get from .22 pistols. Sure I love my big guns but trust me, everyone should own a .22 pistol.
Mine is a lot more accurate than I am and with hat Bull barrel it felt like I was shooting airsofts. Not to mention I can get 400 rounds of .22 at the range compared to 50 rounds of .45.
BTW, at the range today both I and the guy next to me got hit with ricochet fragments. I got hit right under my glasses on the cheek which left a red mark but the older guy got hit in the knee with a much bigger piece and cut him pretty good. Just reminded me to always always always wear safety glasses and how much I miss the old days of outdoor ranges in South Florida.
Anyways, have a great day and if you don't own a 22 pistol, go get one for yourself.

I also have a 22/45. I can't afford to shoot .45 as much as I want so I warm up with the Ruger. I then move on to my Kimber. At the end of my range session I wrap up with the 22/45.

It's a great gun. I enjoy it, and I agree, everyone should have a .22 pistol.

I miss mine...

I had one a few years back and traded it off... worst mistake ever.

Hey, I bet I'm young enough to at least fit on the left hand of the THR bellcurve ;) And a SS 22/45 bull-barrell was my first gun, bought at a gun show in Texas as one of my first official acts as a new Texan :)

Now, I haven't lived there in some time now, but both the state and the gun are high on my list of Good Things About Earth. It truly is as fun to shoot as anything else; the lack of Ooomph is sometimes a little disappointing, but it means I can shoot 10 times as many rounds. (And that's also thanks to the price of those rounds, of course.)

Now, my shooting has been fairly limited over most of the time since I bought the gun (THR is my home for vicarious enjoyment ;)), and I have yet to shoot 1500 rounds through it . One day I'll brave reassembly and cleaning, but it seems that most Ruger .22 owners just keep shooting until they die, then will the gun to the next in line ....
