ok, I had a Ruger 22/45. sold it, didnt like the grip. definitly NOT a 1911.

I love the MKII grip so im going to get one.

heres the questions.

1.) whats the diameter of the heavy bull barrel? (the one that has the same diameter from receiver to muzzle)

2.) at what maximum barrel length that i can assure that the majority of bulk 22lr ammo will be subsonic? (yes, i am having this threaded for my 22 can)

I heard somewhere about a fella with a 4'' bull barrel and he mentioned that most ammo was just above 1000 FPS.

maybe i should go for 3.5'' to be safe?

thanks

The O.D. of the unflattened part of my slabside bull barrel (same as regular bull barrel) is 0.88". The shortest barrel Ruger makes in the Mark2 is 4 3/4" on the MK4 and KMK4.

.874

And the answer to 2 would be, infinate, since once the barrel got over about 20 feet the bullet would be probably stopped.:neener:

i just double checked, I'm getting .874 with a really good dial caliper. I have the short bull stainless one. Good guns.

yeah, i dont care what the shortest factory barrel is since i will have it cut down, threaded and recrowned.

just wondering if i can get about 900 fps or so w/out subsonic ammo.
