Ruger Old Army Value

I paid $172 or so from Gil Hebard. Used to shoot it (blanks of course) at night from the roof in SF Chinatown for both Chinese New Year and Jan 1. What a muzzle blast at night.

This one with brass grip is 250 euros:

The only problem it is in Austria https://www.waffengebraucht.at/waffen/revolver/ruger--390722 .

How much will this one fetch in USA?

I am 100% sure that noted Ruger Old Army came from the factory with brass grip frame. Actually, this is at least 5th ROA with brass grip frame I had seen for sale in Germany or other European countries. Also, as far as I know, swapping grip frames, hammers or triggers, although normal in the USA, is basically unheard of in Europe. For last 4 years since I am following websites in EU, I had never seen revolver that might look that somebody changed factory configuration, nor anybody mentioned that when revolver was put for sale. The problem is to get those parts for conversion from USA.

Best advise on pulling nipples is get a 1/4 drive socket that fits fairly tight and use a ratchet to get that extra bit of leverage. Hopefully they won't be rusted in place.

Agree and would add that if the nipples are the originals from Ruger, a 3/16" socket with 1/4" drive as Jackrabbit1957 suggests will be VERY helpful in removing them.

Rather than start a new thread I figure this one is recent enough I could resuscitate it.

I am also looking at a Ruger Old Army Blued that looks to be in a bit better shape than OPs. Any thoughts on a fair price?

Cowboy Action (SASS) shooters drove up the price of fixed sight ROAs because fixed sight revolvers are the only ones allowed in blackpowder competition categories. Yes, blackpowder revolvers are legal in ALL SASS categories, but only revolvers with fixed sights are legal in the restricted blackpowder categories (Frontiersman, Frontier Cartridge, Frontier Cartridge Duelist). Confused? Never mind. It's just the reason fixed sight ROAs are more expensive than ROAs with adjustable sights. Stainless ROAs are also in more demand than blued ROAs, for whatever reason.

The point I want to make is: they aren't being made anymore. If you want a Ruger Old Army and are not interested in SASS competition, your least expensive option is a blued, used, adjustable sight revolver. If you find one in good enough condition for your purposes, and can verify its condition by personal inspection, buy it. At one point I owned 6. Now I'm down to one since I no longer compete.

$100? If you take your wife and grandkids out for a really nice dinner these days, you will spend close to that. I don't let that much money keep me from buying a gun I want.

I gave $750 for this one at an estate auction about a month ago.
The very few others I've seen for sale around this area, usually at shows, have been priced at $900 and up.
I would have probably grabbed that one for that price had I come across it.
