Ruger or Browning?

They both might have the very occasional hiccup with el cheapo brick ammo, but's that part of the 22 game. I choose to live with the hiccups when I look at how much more nice ammo costs.
i hear ya on that one ive put enough .22 downrange to know there are issues with ammo
but i was moreso asking if anything in particular i should avoid (kind of like how federal bulk and my 10/22 dont like each other) i wanted to know if there was a general ammo to avoid

You can't go wrong. The Ruger is not difficult to dissasemble. If I can do it anyone can. Just read the instructions and/or Youtube vids and you'll be fine.

HAHA yea im sure i can do it but its more a question of will i want to or will i get lazy because it is a PITA

Chevy - Ford. Both are great. I went with the Buckmark because ths LGS had them in stock. More accurate than I will ever hope to be. As a long time 1911 shooter, I wanted a Ruger 22/45 RGP, but, at least in my area, they don't exist.

Yea i definatly dont want a 22/45 im a 1911 shooter too and i for some reason hate the way the 22/45 feels... its a shame too because they are all over the place here and i dont want one yet you want one and cant find one hmmm the irony lol

someone mentioned getting both and that is the final plan but i can only get one for the time being and eventualy get the other down the road

i think im gonna get the browning now and the ruger later i just have a mild obsession i guess for the browning right now

thanks for all the info

I've got a buckmark. It's the most accurate pistol I own. Put untold thousand through it, cleaned it 2 or 3 times. Great for critter blasting too.

I think this post pretty much sums it up! 100% agree, excellent handgun.

Of all the .22 auto loading pistols out there, in my opinion you have picked the 2 best ones.

This^^

i own a Ruger 22/45, but would do just as well with the buckmark.

I like both, may get a Buckmark one day but the polymer makes me shy away. I just prefer steel. Old school I guess.
Here's my MKIII, with Volquartsen sear, trigger, extractor, and disconnector. Millett SP1 rounds it out. For less than $150 over purchase price you can build a match grade target pistol yourself.

If you plan on making modifications to the gun, get the Ruger.

If you don't plan on making modifications, still get the Ruger :)

Taking it apart isn't nearly as bad as folks make it out to be. I can break mine down and put it back together in <1 minute. No biggie....

I sold my ruger, Nothing against it execept as you note, PITA to strip. Though I would just use my Woodsman. Bought a Browning on a whim. The Browning taught me what a trigger could feel like. I have rested my Woodsman since. I suppose after 60 years it deserves it. The Colt is still the most naturely pointing gun I own.

The first time you do it, just follow the instuctions. After that its a five minute job max. Its not a PITA, there is just a procedure to it.

I have a Buckmark Target and a Ruger MkIII 22/45 (new version with removable grips). They're both terrific; Browning has a better trigger out of the box; Ruger more after market accessories. Frankly, if your into .22 pistols, you'll wind up with both eventually anyway, why not get them both now?

I went to the store looking to get a Ruger ended up leaving with a Browning. The Browning felt better to me. The Ruger is still a great pistol and they're still a great company if you ever have to deal with them, but I'm happy with my purchase.
