I need some advice from some handgun experts. My wife has agreed to let me buy a new toy with a budget of $600. Since I live in California this is only a fun gun, no chance of getting a CCW here:banghead: and HD is covered with by a 12ga pump with a Surefire forend. I have narrowed my choices to either a Ruger P345, Glock 19, or Glock 21.
I already have 2 9mm's (Ruger p95 and AB-10) so the Glock 19 makes sense in that I don't have to start buying another caliber of ammo and 9mm is much cheaper than 45 (I shoot about 3000 rounds of 9mm a year). I decided on of the Glock 19 because I live in the Peoples Republic of California and am restricted to 10 round mags, so I might as well get a more compact gun.
I don't own a 45 and since I am capacity restricted a 45 makes sense. I know that both the Ruger and Glock are great guns (P345 was handgun of the year in 2004 I think). The Ruger is a little cheaper than the Glock around here (about $75) but the Ruger has some of those stupid "safety" features like a mag disconnect and intergal lock. I would like to support an American company, but I don't agree with adding "safety" features to firearms because of political pressure.
So what do you guys think? Should I stick with the 9mm and save some cash on ammo or should I get a 45 to round out my collection? If I get a 45 which is a better buy, the Glock 21 or Ruger P345?
