Ruger quit making the P95 a while ago and they don't have any of the recoil springs for sale. I've nosed around and can't seem to find anyone else who makes them either. I've checked Numrich for spare parts, Brownell's, Wolff springs... can't seem to find anyone that makes them.
In fact, I just wrote Wolff springs an email letting them know that there's money to be made in producing new recoil springs to keep the P95 running.
Anyone have a line on new recoil springs?
Would you go ahead and shoot the gun to failure?
Anybody have a desire to contact Wolff to encourage them to start making new springs?

I wouldn't shoot it - no need to ruin it. I'll bet there is a similar spring out there, so keep looking.

another brainstorm:

look around for a Ruger collectors forum - I'd expect someone there will have the answer for you.

Since it's a P series in 9 mm the same spring for the other P series in 9 mm should fit. I can't 'right now but later today I'll take some measurements of the spring on my P 89 and post them I bet that they are the same as your P 95.

I work for a spring company and can tell you the information you need to provide when you order a custom spring. (Yes our company does custom springs). PM me for company info if interested.

1. Wire diameter in thousandths.

2. Count the number of coils in one inch of length.

3. Inside diameter and outside diameter in thousandths of an inch.

4. Tell them if the spring is finished off in a flat fashion or just trimmed along the coil.

5.Tell them if there is any taper to either spring end and provide the beginning and ending taper dimensions.

6. What material you want the spring made from. Most gun companies use music wire for their springs (cheap). For a longer life spring you can use oil tempered chrome silicon (OTCS). It is a more expensive material.

Most spring companies operate on a blueprint basis. Many will also work from a provided sample to create a blueprint. The contract is based on the approval of the provided print. The more springs you order, the cheaper they are by unit. If you order one spring you are going to pay the setup fee, minimum wire order, and production run fee. If you order 100+ it gets much more cost effective. Hope that helps.

Unfortunately the models before the 95 used a single spring while.the 95,944,97 used dual springs. Maybe it will still fit, though
Maybe the 97 standard power would work as an increased power 95 set. If the rod diameters are close enough

Ruger, justifiably in my view, has a great reputation for building reliable and durable products at a fair price and offering great customer service. That's why their apparent decision to not offer key parts for a popular pistol like the p95 is a head scratcher. I had a p95 and found the same thing when I tried to order a spare recoil spring assembly. I was told they are keeping enough for repairs but not enough to sell on the market. I was surprised and disappointed and promptly sold my p95 with that disclaimer. Why bother? I can find recoil springs for my Hi Powers all day long. Not worth the trouble. Too bad, too. The p95 is a reliable, durable, inexpensive gem. Lack of basic support is a shame.

The post William Ruger management has done some great things at Ruger. And a couple of things that are perplexing. This is one of the latter.

Go to gunpartscorp.com (i.e., NUMRICH) and have them notify you when they get some new ones in stock. It may take a while, but they're a good source for hard-to-find parts.

Joining one of the Ruger forums and asking there, or putting a WTB ad in the forum's classified area may be a good option, too.

I too contacted Wolff awhile back requesting that they add P95 recoil springs to their inventory.

Also emailed the CEO of Sturm Ruger. He (or his ghostwriter) answered back that they're keeping enough on hand for repairs and that whenever my pistol needs new springs I can send it back to the factory. Agree with an earlier poster that this is perplexing.

That's crazy that you can't get one- I imagine they made quite a few of them, and some are probably still in service with LE.

I was looking for a reduced power spring for a P95 to try in a friends gun (she shot other 9's just fine but got limp wrist type problems when she bought a p95, gun worked fine for me). I talked to a wolff rep and they told me that there wasn't enough demand for springs for the P95 to justify doing to the R&D. He said that dual spring systems can be very complicated.

That was back when the P95 was just being phased out. Maybe they will change their mind now, but I doubt it.

I wonder if this situation may become more common over time as more and more new designs use captive recoil spring "assemblies" rather than simple springs. If and when a particular model is discontinued, the lack of demand plus complexity of design might mean more and more discontinued models left to wither without parts support. When I found out about Ruger's position they had just dropped the P95 and there were many new ones still on the shelves being bought by buyers who had no idea they could not buy a replacement spring without sending the gun to Ruger. One of the few times current Ruger management has disappointed me in their customer service.

Just because Ruger doesn't have it on their web store doesn't mean they don't have it. Call them and ask for their parts department. They'll be able to answer all your questions and may have it available. I also discovered, when ordering new parts for my father's Mark I, that the parts were cheaper than on their web store.

Spats, I appreciate it,amigo, but they're out of stock
Stchman, I like to swap mine out ~2000 rounds and she's overdue

2000 rounds is really LIGHT usage for a Ruger P95. You can probably safely go 2-3 times that many rounds. (A sub-compact gun would be more sensitive to round counts.)

If you've got some older ones on hand, that you swapped out, you've already got a good backup supply.

Have you tried asking Ruger for the spring specs? If they're not willing to sell you parts, they might be willing to give that information.

Wolff may already have something in their inventory that matches the springs in that assembly. (I found, by accident, for example, that BHP springs worked better in CZ than did the Wolff CZ (really Tanfoglio springs) they offered. You never know.

I have a P85 that I really like and shoot quite a bit. I hope I don't need any parts for it.

Good day-
W. C. Wolff Co has recoil springs that range from 8 to 16 pounds.
The website says that P85 and P90 are the same... Reduced, Factory standard and Extra power springs are available.

Hope this helps!
Won't work. I tried ordering the P90 springs for a P95. The P90 used a single spring. The p95 is a dual spring set up.
