Security Six was the best Ruger ever produced in a 4 inch but now a 3 inch SP 101
for current models.....my problem with Ruger is most models are just fugly to look at

I only have one wheelgun and it's a 4 5/8 Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible. If I could only have one I guess that one works for me.

I would really like to give an SP101 a spin though.

I love a lot of you people because I can show my wife some of the collections and it makes me seem much more sane :D

I obviously like the SP101 in 3" .357 Magnum best because that is what I bought.

They're Rugers, you can't have just one!! I have a Blackhawk in .45 and a Security Six in .357. I like them both, and for the same reasons. I can load light powderpuff loads to uber magnum bear killing loads (well, maybe not so much in the .357 - but still, plenty stout) and I can carry them both given an appropriate holster. Why would you handicap yourself by only having one? I think that your question should be, "In what order would you buy these?"

I checked the LCR but it would have helped to know what the weapon was to be used for, SD, target or whatever. I could never justify buying a SUPER RED HAWK .44 for anything other than having it as a conversation piece.

Tough choice,I have 3 Redhawks,357,44 and 45 Colt,3 Blackhawks 2 45 Colt and 1 44,a gp100 and 3 Ruger MK IIs I'd say my ported 4 5/8 44 mag for keepers

Actually, I do own a Redhawk in .44 Mag. But it isn't my favorite, which is not listed in the poll: the Police Service Six.

I recently acquired a Police Service Six 4" blued .357 Magnum. It balances as well, or nearly so, as a 4" S&W K Frame Magnum and it costs far less. The Security Six is the same gun, but with adjustable sights, so I like them almost as much as the fixed-sight Service Sixes - I guess I just find the Service Six more asthetically pleasing than the Security Six. Both are better looking than the GP100 that replaced them though, IMHO.

I don't own a Single Six, but I'd love too. Thing is they are darned expensive in my area, and I've got a cheapie Heritage that works just fine and cost half as much. I can get the Single Six NIB cheaper (about $299) than used, as I rarely see used Single Sixes selling for less than $350 in my area. Over $400 is fairly common.
I have owned four Rugers. I still have two. But I agree the one I could not do without is my Police Service Six in 4 inch. I would sell my GP100 before I would give up my Service six.
Below is my pride and joy.

Mine was not listed-

I like my Speed six the best of all the ones I have and of the ones listed I would go with the 3" inch SP101.

Redhawk in 357 hands down the beast. You can shoot the lightest 38s to the hardest of the "silhouette" loads (that fit in a revolver). Nothing like being able to push a 180jhp over 1400 fps.

And if you get the 356GNR conversion done, It only gets better.

The Redhawk in 45Colt would be a very close second.

Talk about overkill. My 5 1/2" .44 Redhawk weighs 53.5 oz. I hate to think what it would weigh in .357. My S&W 627PC weighs 46 oz. and it is no light weight.

I choose my Alaskan, but it was a tough choice between that and my Lipsey .44 Spl Flattop.

Ill have to go with the GP100. I picked up a GP100 6" stainless .357 this past weekend for $350. It has virtually no wear and after cleaning it, I doubt they fired anything other than 38spl in it. It is my first revolver (other than my grandpa's old RG 66 .22lr) and it wont be my last.

Depends on your need...

If it were me, I'd take the GP100. I was faced with this decision and decided on the GP100. I would do it again. No complaint. If I needed a gun for CC, I might consider an SP101. The GP100 is more pleasant to shoot and fits my hand better.

there is NO wrong choice for a ruger revolver. they are all built well and right imho. for my personal taste, i'll take the GP100. love mine in 4" ss. would like to have a 3" fixed sight, and an additional 4"er with half lug. a service six would work just as well for that.
