Will be picking up a SR1911 5" this week from a LGS. Haven't been "into" the 1911 platform for close to 30 years now. Had a Springfield moderately modified and Colt 9mm LTW Commander back in that day. Just want a very reliable, relatively accurate 1911 without breaking the bank. They are too nostalgic and Americana not own one.

Anyone here have much experience with them?

I have the 4" model all stainless. 100% reliable, accurate, and no complaints or issues.

You'll like it.

And it's reliable.

Did I say "reliable?"

It's reliable.

If you check the "Shop" section on the Ruger
home page you'll find a good amount of
parts, changes you might like down the road..

And if you have any trouble, Ruger has the best
customer service of any gun company. Did I
say the "best?" It's the best.

I have two 5" SR1911s. A 45 ACP & a 10mm. While I've only put a few hundred rounds through each, they both have been 100%. Good looking pistols as well, with minimal BS on the slide.

If this one works out as well as I am anticipating I will be interested in a 10mm also. I have a Glock 30 with a 10mm conversion barrel and mags and would like it as an alternative just because. Though the 10mm SR1911's a re few and far between for now.

Was what I gave my son for Christmas and added the green CT grips. It has been accurate but more importantly completely reliable. He is a young guy but loves the 1911 frame. Plastic guns have a place but metal guns are just more enjoyable to shoot and hold.

Fantastic pistol, I had the 5" Stainless. I ended up selling it, had a silly notion in my head that I didn't need two 1911's in the same caliber. It was a touch lighter than my Sistema, with a better trigger out of the box. Thats another one I shoulda held onto

I have a SR 1911. The only problem I have had function wise was the first couple of times I shot it I was getting hit in the head by the empty cases. I got online & did a little research & tensioned the extractor & it has been fine since.

I also have both the 10mm and .45 versions (both 5") and the only thing I didn't love about them was the black-oxide, MIM controls, which tend to rust when I carry concealed. I fixed that problem by coating the black pieces with electroless nickel. It only made a great pistol even better.

I have one, Commander size, and it's a fine gun. I put new grips on it. The Ruger doesn't match up to my Springfield, but that's purely my biased opinion. I'm sure you'll be quite happy with yours.

I have full size in 10 mm and 45 and yet to have a malfunction. I have their light weight in 9 mm had failure to feed replaced the recoil spring with a 12 lb Wilson spring and no more problems.

I have a 10mm SR1911, it's my favorite of my three 1911's (other two are a Springfield A1 in .45, and a Springfield EMP4 in 9mm). Hasn't missed a beat, and I shoot full power 10mm's all the time. It's equally as accurate as the .45 Springfield
